Chapter 739 Termination of Contract
Seeing Alice strut over, Karen blurted out, "I've got you lined up for a new variety show. No decent scripts right now, but once something pops up, you're in. For now, hit up some variety shows to get your face out there. Your exposure's kinda weak. Most deals we're getting are short-term. To lock in some solid partnerships, you need more visibility. These shows are pretty decent; check 'em out."
Alice didn't even bother looking and chucked the proposal in the trash. "I don't wanna see it! Get One Day back on track now. It's been on hold for three days, and I can't waste any more time. This show's my ticket to fame. I've been filming for two months; it can't just stop. You're my agent. You should do as I said instead of yanking the investment from my new show with Finnian."
Karen's face tightened. Staring at the proposal in the trash, she felt her anger bubbling up.
Alice was the most difficult and unreasonable actress Karen had ever dealt with.
Alice, a spoiled rich girl, had zero acting chops, no fanbase, and no public support. She snatched the role from Natalie, and now One Day was getting boycotted left and right.
Karen took a deep breath, then let it out, standing up. "Alice, this is the proposal for your future gigs. Just follow it, and your resources and popularity will grow. Even without One Day, there'll be other chances. You can't rush success. You need to work on your acting skills. Otherwise, even if you get this show, your rep will tank once it's out. I really think you need some improvement on your acting skills."
Alice was floored. She didn't expect Karen to talk back. 'Who does Karen think she is? An agent dares to talk to me like that?'
Alice's face turned purple with fury. "That's crap, this film will kill it at the box office!"
Karen shot back, "In you dreams. Know why Victoria bailed? You wrecked this show. You swiped the role for Natalie. Now everyone's boycotting it online, and the bad press is through the roof. Alice, you'd be better off just being a rich heiress and staying out of showbiz. If you wanna act, then work on your skills and lines. If you can't even do the basics, then get out of the industry."
Karen couldn't hold it in anymore. She knew this would piss Alice off, but she was done. Alice bossed her around, did everything her way, and blew a good shot. Karen would rather not work with such a diva.
Alice's eyes went wide. "Fine, Karen. I knew it. You never really wanted to promote me. You only did it for my backer. I'll find someone else. I'm ending my contract with you. Dynamic Entertainment Media has plenty of agents. Don't think you're hot stuff just 'cause you're a VP. Let's see how long you keep that job!"
Alice stormed out and slammed the door behind her.
Karen clenched her fists, seething with anger.
