Chapter 317 Reason

Melody said, "Of course I know, you're Mrs. Cullen."

Her tone was cold and polite, no flattery. She wasn't surprised by Avery's identity. At the Imperial Nightclub, she'd seen plenty of wealthy folks. She was willing to flatter others to some extent, but she wouldn't do it for someone like Avery, who came in demanding she fire her staff.

Avery looked at Melody, scrutinizing her face. Melody stood up, clearly displeased at being refused. Avery hadn't expected Melody to refuse her, even knowing who she was.

Avery said, "Manager Nicholson, my daughter is the future mistress of the Howard family. Are you sure you want to go against me?"

Melody stayed calm, even a bit disdainful. She thought, 'Future mistress? Future means it hasn't happened yet.' But she quickly said, "Mrs. Cullen, what do you mean by going against you? Not firing Natalie means going against you? You're putting me in a tough spot."

Melody had worked at the Imperial Nightclub for nearly ten years and had been threatened before. If she bent to everyone's will, she wouldn't have lasted this long.

The usually diplomatic Melody raised an eyebrow slightly. "Mrs. Cullen, I have a meeting to attend. If there's nothing else, I'll be going."

Melody turned, walked to her desk, picked up a file, and was about to leave. Avery stood up and left first, her face looking grim.

Melody stood there, arms crossed, eyebrows slightly raised. She wondered, 'Natalie, what did you do to offend Avery?' She was really having a headache.

Avery, fuming, opened the door and walked out. She saw a woman in a red suit standing at the door, about 30 years old. Emma smiled, "Mrs. Cullen, hello, I'm Emma, the assistant manager here."

Avery looked at Emma. "You're also a manager here."

Emma walked over to Avery. Wearing high heels, she was already tall and now stood half a head taller than Avery. She bent slightly, saying, "Mrs. Cullen, if there's anything you need, and she won't solve it for you, I can help. Melody relies on having someone backing her, and she never listens to anyone at the Imperial Nightclub."

Having just been refused in Melody's office, Avery felt comforted by Emma. She smiled, thinking Emma was smarter.

In Emma's office.

Avery was straightforward. "Find a reason to fire Natalie."

She wanted to make sure Natalie couldn't find a foothold in Vachilit!

Natalie wouldn't be able to return to school. She wouldn't get her diploma.

Avery hated Natalie and Rosalie. Ever since the last incident, she had been arguing with Curtis.

Her daughter was inferior to Natalie in every way. Her husband thought about that slut Rosalie every day!

So what if that was the case? Natalie still couldn't find even a menial job!

Emma didn't ask for specific reasons, only said, "Mrs. Cullen, this will take a little time. I need to plan it out. After all, if we fire someone just like that, people might think the Imperial Nightclub is bullying others."

"But," Emma said, "I will make sure you're satisfied."

"Alright, I only care about the result." Avery took money out of her bag and placed it on the table. It was several thousand dollars, but Emma wasn't interested. She smiled. "Mrs. Cullen, you can keep it. I just want to be friends with you. I have the worst relationship with Melody, and helping you today is a matter of fate."

"Manager Kroger, thank you. I'd love to be friends with you. If you help me fire her, you can come to me if you need anything in the future." Avery left her business card.

Emma smiled and watched Avery leave. She sat on the sofa and took a sip of coffee.

She needed to think of a reason, a reason to fire Natalie.
