Chapter 731 A Mistress
Natalie whispered, "Bella, you need to sleep. I'll stick around for a few days. Austin's in good hands with the docs. You need to look after yourself. Seriously, you look like you're about to keel over."
Bella gave in and let Natalie drive her back to the Reynolds Mansion.
This was Natalie's first run-in with Cassidy. Cassidy was indeed formidable. The vibe she gave off was way different from Claire's; it was more like the one Natalie got when she first met Adrian, someone who’s been top dog for a long time.
Natalie had heard Adrian talk about Cassidy being a badass businesswoman.
Cassidy clocked Natalie right away. She always kept tabs on online gossip and knew some entertainment news. Plus, she had business ties with the Howard Family and knew Adrian, the Howard Group heir, had a fiancée. She also knew about Adrian's side woman, the woman standing in front of her.
But Cassidy was kinda thrown off seeing Bella and Natalie as friends.
Cassidy asked, "How's Austin doing?"
She didn't fake concern; she just tossed the question out there.
Bella's hands tightened. She knew Cassidy would be thrilled if Austin never woke up.
Bella took a deep breath and croaked, "Same as before."
Cassidy asked, "And Nicholas?"
Bella replied plainly, "He's at the hospital with Austin."
Cassidy nodded. "You should get some rest. You look like a wreck. Is this your friend? First time at the Reynolds Mansion, huh? Feel free to drop by anytime."
Natalie forced a polite smile, even though it felt awkward.
They headed upstairs, with Natalie holding Bella's ice-cold hands.
Downstairs, Cassidy sighed and made her way to the greenhouse.
Lucy had been watching from upstairs until Natalie and Bella were out of sight. She then turned her attention to the greenhouse.
Lucy commented, "That chick looked like Natalie. Gotta admit, Natalie and Alice do look alike. No wonder she's Adrian's side piece. I heard Natalie’s signed with Dynamic Entertainment Media, and all her gigs come from Adrian."
Cassidy snipped a rose with a pair of scissors.
The bright rosebud hit the ground, and Cassidy smirked, "So what if she's a side piece?"
Lucy was caught off guard. She quickly realized her slip-up.
Cassidy herself had been Mr. Reynolds's mistress. She had no status in the Reynolds Family until his wife passed, and Cassidy took her place.
Cassidy said, "Honestly, I find Natalie way more interesting than Alice."
Cassidy had met Alice once at a fancy party. Alice was gorgeous, but Cassidy thought Natalie had more spark.
"Tell the staff to prep lunch. We're heading to the hospital to see Austin and Nicholas." Cassidy looked at the pruning shears and murmured, "These are too dull. Sharp tools need to stay sharp."
Lucy said, "If they’re not working right, I’ll go sharpen them."
Cassidy replied, "It's getting windy. I'll handle it."
Lucy asked, "Want me to keep an eye on things upstairs?"
Cassidy shook her head. "It's just Bella and her friend up there; they can't stir up much trouble. Is the hospital covered?"
Lucy nodded. "Yeah, we’ve got people there around the clock." Even among Nicholas's crew, Cassidy had her own spies.
