She watched as the man threw his phone into the trash can.
"And then?" Adrian looked at Melissa and Claire, his lips parting slightly.
Claire was shocked. "Adrian, how could you..." She clutched her chest, staring at the phone in her trash can.
Melissa said, "Adrian, isn't this too rude to your mother! We're doing this for your own good!"
Adrian held Natalie's hand and looked at Melissa and Claire. "A few pictures, a medical record, and you call Natalie here to accuse her. Aunt, Mom, I respect you both, but don't you think you're being too hasty?"
Claire opened her mouth.
Adrian continued, "Also, who gave you this medical record? How did you get Natalie's private medical records? Medical records are confidential at hospitals. Except for the patient themselves, how did anyone else get hold of it?"
Claire and Melissa looked at each other.
The atmosphere became awkward.
It was Natalie who spoke up, "Adrian, Mom and Aunt probably didn't mean any harm."
Claire looked at Natalie, seemingly unwilling to accept her kindness. "Natalie, you got pregnant and had an abortion first, you had another man behind my son's back first. If you hadn't done these things, this medical record wouldn't be in front of me."
Adrian's voice was firm. "I will always trust my wife."
Then he looked at Andrea. "Andrea, this is our family matter. If you have nothing else, you can leave now."
Andrea froze.
She was being asked to leave.
Being treated as an outsider.
She stood up and said, sounding both wronged and understanding, "Adrian, then I'll go now."
She didn't leave immediately but glanced at Melissa and Claire, and only after a few seconds did she leave with red eyes, choking back tears.
In that moment, Natalie's heart felt warmth.
She also squeezed Adrian's hand tightly in return.
Melissa had never liked Natalie, especially since her own son Daniel's heart had always been set on Natalie. Now that she had caught Natalie's weakness, she naturally wasn't going to let it go.
"Adrian, your aunt knows how you feel about Natalie. But we the Howard family need a girl with a clean background. You trust Natalie, but do you know how Natalie has treated you? This matter concerns the Howard family's reputation. I will report this truthfully to Dad."
Adrian just held Natalie's hand, as if giving her strength, telling her not to be afraid.
He said, "If that's what you think, Aunt, then I won't stop you."
Melissa had always been very satisfied with Adrian. She had watched Adrian grow up, and Adrian had always respected and loved her. But now, this man was actually contradicting her for Natalie's sake. This disappointed Melissa and made her dislike Natalie even more.

She glanced at Claire.
Claire was actually a gentle and passive person. If it weren't for Natalie's abortion causing her to be unable to get pregnant now, she wouldn't have wanted to clash with Natalie.
She just wanted a child, that's all.
