Chapter 1024 Life Ruined

Yancy's childhood was a mess.

His foster father was a grumpy hothead, who had taken him as a punching bag ever since Yancy came to his family. After his foster father lost his job, things just got worse; words such as wuss, sissy and moron had been often yelled in Yancy's tiny room. Threats on his life had been a routine after his foster father got drunk.

Then Yancy figured out he wasn't their real son. He finally decided to leave and move to another city.

But less than two years after he moved out, his mom suddenly called, saying something big had happened and he needed to come back ASAP.

Yancy rushed back home.

When he got there, his parents were all smiles, totally different from when he left, like he was some kind of cash cow.

There was a stranger on the couch named Ellsworth. He said Mrs. Reynolds sent him to bring Yancy back.

And it was only after he went with Ellsworth that he learned he was abandoned at birth.

Now, Yancy looked at the woman in front of him, the one who had ditched him.

For power and money, she had set up a car accident that killed the Reynolds family's son, and Xavier's death was tied to her too. Now, she was the head of the Reynolds family.

Yancy stood up. "Mom, if you still see me as your son, don't push me. The person I love is Heather. I won't love anyone else."

Cassidy saw his determination and stood up, "Alright, Yancy, I won't force you anymore."

Yancy's face brightened, "Really?"

Cassidy nodded, "I'll listen to you. I can accept Heather."

Yancy said, "Thanks, Mom."

"Alright, you must be thirsty," Cassidy said, pouring Yancy a glass of water. "Have some water."

Yancy sat back down and took a sip.

Cassidy's eyes narrowed, and her fingers clenched. She looked up again, smiling, "Yancy, I've always missed you. You're the only real family I have. I may have hurt others, but I'd never harm you. I've done a lot of wrong things, but it was all for our future. Without power, money, and status, I'd still be treated like an object by Xavier, to be discarded or given away at will."

Yancy stayed quiet.

Cassidy laughed bitterly, "I know it's my fault. I've wronged you. The reason I've worked so hard is for our future. If I were on my own, I might not have tried so hard, but I have you."

Yancy sighed softly, "Mom."

Cassidy wiped away a tear.

Suddenly, Yancy felt dizzy and swayed. "Mom."

Cassidy stood up and walked over, "Yancy."

"Mom, what's happening to me?" Yancy realized something was wrong. He gripped Cassidy's hand tightly, "Mom, there's something wrong with that water. What are you trying to do?"

At that moment, Lucy walked in and came to Cassidy's side, "Ma'am, everything is ready."
