Chapter 744 Soft-hearted
Adrian shot back, "Look, just 'cause you say so doesn't mean this kid's mine. I was wasted that night and don't remember anything. Yeah, you came into my room, but no cameras in the hotel, so who knows what went down. In the pics, your clothes are all neat, and I was out cold. No way a drunk man like me could do anything. I had like ten drinks, my stomach was killing me, and I was so hammered I needed help to walk. Seriously, I don't remember a thing."
Alice's face went ghostly pale at Adrian's words.
Curtis looked just as shocked. When they heard Alice was pregnant, Emmett had talked to him about heading to the Howard Mansion for some answers. Alice had been playing the role of the Howard family's future wife for two years, but no wedding yet, and Curtis was getting fed up.
So, Curtis and Emmett showed up together. But they hadn't dug into the details.
Hearing Adrian's bombshell, Curtis shot Alice a questioning look.
Emmett started to freak out too. She saw Claire and Melissa eyeing them. Without a solid story, they were in deep trouble.
But the thing was, Emmett had no clue what Alice had pulled. She didn't know if the kid was Adrian's or what went down that night.
Curtis and Emmett had rushed to the Howard Mansion, hoping to use the kid to put pressure on the Howard Family.
They'd been waiting two years with no answers. Emmett's friends were all nice to her face, but behind her back, they said Alice got dumped by the Howard Family.
Alice's eyes welled up with tears. She couldn't explain everything now, so she had to play the victim card.
With teary eyes, Alice whimpered, "I just snapped a quick pic; didn't think much of it. Adrian, we've known each other forever. Don't you get how I feel about you? My heart's all yours. Even if I did something wrong, my heart's still yours. It's been almost two years since we met. You promised me the title of hostess, and everyone knows I'm your fiancée. But these two years, I've been under so much public pressure while recovering at home. Adrian, please believe me. Why would I lie to you?"
Claire softened up. "Alright, Alice, relax. Stay here for now, and we'll figure it out later." She glanced at Adrian. She was skeptical of Alice's story, but the kid in her belly was the main concern. Alice couldn't run off while she was at the Howard Mansion.
Adrian didn't say much more and got up. "If there's nothing else, I shall head out."
"Adrian." Claire sighed, watching him leave.
Curtis and Emmett were still there, and Adrian just bailed without much respect.
Emmett and Curtis exchanged looks. Ruben was exhausted and got up. Melissa helped him upstairs to rest.
Claire held Alice's hand. "Alright, don't overthink it. Just stay here for now."
