Chapter 607 Reporter
Heather knew Natalie didn't give a damn about Rosalie.
But Natalie had the right to know what was up.
Heather had been in Natalie's shoes before. When she heard her grandma was seriously ill, she still went back. Even though it broke her heart, she wanted to see her grandma one last time.
Natalie asked, "You at the hospital now?"
Heather replied, "Stuck in traffic. Should be there in like half an hour."
"Got it." Natalie's voice was all raspy. She hung up, slumped back on the couch, and turned on the TV. Some popular family drama was on, made by a big-name company with top-notch acting.
On the show, a mom slapped her daughter. "I raised you, fed you, clothed you. What's wrong with asking you to take care of your brother? He'll be your only family when your dad and I are gone."
The daughter just wanted to go to college and get away from all her suffering.
Natalie let out a deep sigh.
She turned off the TV.
Staring at the dark screen, she got lost in her thoughts.
Natalie stood up, opened the fridge, and grabbed a bottle of wine. It wasn't too strong. She took a couple of sips, the grape flavor lingering in her throat. Leaning against the fridge, she closed her eyes, Heather's words echoing in her mind.
Rosalie had been given a critical condition notice.
Was Rosalie gonna die?
Natalie never actually thought she'd die.
Her biggest wish was always for Rosalie to be healthy.
Natalie hesitated for a couple of minutes, then dialed Derek's number and asked him to drive over and wait downstairs.
She changed her clothes, put on some sunglasses, and stormed out.
At the hospital, Heather, in her high heels, rushed to the operating room door. The door was still shut. Outside, the nanny and Alice were sitting on chairs waiting. When the nanny saw Heather, she immediately scuttered over to fill her in on Rosalie's condition.
But Heather's eyes were glued to Alice.
The nanny noticed Heather wasn't paying attention. Following Heather's gaze, she looked at Alice and said, "This young lady brought Mrs. Teeger to the hospital. She's a kind person."
Heather said, "Is that so?"
Alice stood up. She was rocking a white Chanel suit, her long hair slightly curled, and her makeup on point. She looked at Heather and said, "I ran into Rosalie. She had a medical emergency, so I brought her here. But her condition is really bad. The doctor said we should be ready for the worst." She looked genuinely sad.
Heather pulled out her phone to text Natalie about Alice being there.
Just then, the sound of a door opening echoed.
Heather sensed reporters nearby. Sure enough, when she turned around, she saw a few reporters hiding in the stairwell not far away.
How did the reporters know Rosalie was in the operating room?
It was a coincidence, right?
Did the reporters mistake Alice for Natalie and follow her, or did Alice bring them here?
Heather stared at Alice. "What are you up to?"
Alice looked all innocent. "Heather, you got me wrong. What could I possibly be up to? I ran into Rosalie, saw she was in trouble, and brought her to the hospital. What could I do?"
