Chapter 119 There is no need for a blind date

Emerging from the hospital, Avery pulled out her phone, her mind already formulating a plan. "Renee," she said, "when might your nephew be available to meet Natalie? I believe they could make a rather good pair." She pondered the potential union of the two individuals.

Renee, on the other end of the line, quickly grasped her intention. "Mrs. Cullen," she replied, "I understand your request. I'll arrange it immediately. However, I think Natalie is currently dating someone. A doctor, I believe..."

Renee found herself questioning whether Natalie would be interested. Her nephew, recently released from prison, might not be the most appealing option, but he was family nonetheless. She dared not voice these concerns, however.

Once the call ended, Renee promptly dialed her nephew's number. "Hello, David, it's Renee," she greeted him.

David Miller cast a puzzled glance at his phone, wondering what had prompted Renee to contact him after so many years. "What's the matter?" he asked.

"Well," Renee began, "you're of marriageable age, aren't you? Your mother has been pestering me to find you a suitable blind date. As it happens, I have someone in mind. Would you like to meet her?"

David scoffed dismissively, offering a few curt words before ending the call. He knew his aunt worked as a maid; what kind of beauty could she possibly introduce him to? They were likely all of her ilk.

Despite his dismissive attitude, David quickly found a photo of Natalie and sent it his way.

Minutes later, upon seeing Natalie's image, David hastily redialed Renee's number, his previous indifference evaporated. "Renee," he began, "I may have been unclear earlier. When can I come over? You set the time."

"Very well," Renee replied, "how about this Wednesday?"

And so, Wednesday arrived.

In the morning, Renee waited for Natalie at the Cullen Villa. She watched the side gate intently until Natalie finally emerged, carrying a paper bag. Renee approached her, presenting the bag. "Change into these clothes and accompany me," she instructed.

Natalie opened the bag and recoiled slightly at the scent of cheap fabric. "I'm not wearing this. What are you planning?" she demanded.

"You'll understand once we arrive. Please hurry. If you delay, Mrs. Cullen will come and rush you," Renee urged, "Don't dawdle!"

Reluctantly, Natalie decided not to argue and changed into the clothes Renee had provided. It was a green sweater dress, somewhat cheap in appearance, with a deep V neckline and a strong chemical odor.
