Chapter 835 Idol Drama
Natalie first met Chris when he was hanging out with Esme, and right away, she felt like there was something different about him.
It wasn't just the slightly longer hair that made him stand out. Chris wasn't girly at all; his features were sharp and intense, nothing like a girl's. Natalie had heard about Chris before; people said he was tough to talk to and super strict. Later, when they got to know each other better, Natalie even joked with him, asking when he'd star in a drama series, saying some girls would watch the whole show just for his face. Chris just smiled.
The barbecue joint was huge.
Chris had rented out the whole place, but there were only about a dozen people there.
Even though the crowd was small, they ordered a ton of food.
The owner was busy grilling meat and warming up wine.
Natalie took a sip of the wine; it was warm and smooth.
The owner's wife brought out some veggie dishes and smiled at Natalie, saying, "This is homemade fruit wine, only 8% alcohol, a bit sweet, and best enjoyed warm."
Natalie thought it tasted great and nodded.
There were only three actresses there, and they were all drinking this wine.
The rest of the guys were drinking vodka, which was pretty strong.
Two of the actors were already drunk and passed out on the table. None of the actors at this table were really famous, so there were no agents hovering around, and they weren't tightly managed by their companies.
This time, a movie unexpectedly became a hit.
The room was super cozy.
Chris walked out with his drink, wearing just a thin black sweater.
The sweater had a high collar, reaching up to his Adam's apple.
Natalie walked out and saw Chris standing alone in the yard.
His silhouette was thin, and his shadow stretched out under the faint moonlight and a dim yard light. It was really cold outside, and there seemed to be a white mist around Chris. Natalie walked over and stood next to him.
It was so quiet here, and the cold wind was rustling through the trees.
Chris didn't seem to mind the cold. He turned slightly and raised his glass.
Natalie raised hers, too, and they clinked glasses.
Natalie tilted her head back and took a sip.
After just a few minutes outside, the wine had already cooled. The cooled wine didn't taste as sweet, and as it slid down her throat, Natalie closed her eyes slightly. The cooled wine felt like a dull knife, not sharp, with a fragrant aroma that wasn't overwhelming.
Chris said, "Have you ever thought about how much this movie will make at the box office?"
Maybe it was because of that sip of cold wine. Natalie felt her throat was a bit hoarse.
The wine, though cold, brought a warm, sweet spiciness as it went down her throat.
Natalie replied, "Before this movie came out, my agent told me that if it grossed over $500 million, I wouldn't need to rely on Dynamic Entertainment for resources."
Chris smiled. "Actually, I've thought about it."
His lips were thin, giving him a naturally indifferent look.
Chris continued, "This movie was based on an idea I had in college. Back then, it was just a concept. The first image that popped into my head was of a woman with her hair drenched by rain, sticking to her face. She was beautiful, disheveled, vulnerable yet strong. Her eyes shone with light; she was as resilient as a weed. This was the image of the female lead. I first finished writing this story in my sophomore year. Later, after I graduated, I worked with a few big directors on several films."
