Chapter 417 Being Late

Natalie totally got what Harper was hinting at.

Harper was blunt but didn't mean any harm.

Maybe she felt bad for Natalie.

Natalie didn't bother explaining much; they had only done one movie together and weren't exactly tight.

No one knew about her thing with Mindy.

The whole crew was just hanging around, waiting for Samantha.

Samantha's team had said she was stuck in traffic and would be there in half an hour.

But she still hadn't shown up.

Chris was ticked off, but as the assistant director, he didn't have much pull. Samantha, being the star promoted by Dynamic Entertainment and the lead actress, was always late, making everyone else suffer. The shooting schedule had to be reworked, and the delays were costing a ton.

He told his assistant, "Check again where she is. From the theater to here, it shouldn't take an hour. Even with traffic, find out where she's stuck. If needed, go get her."

The assistant nodded like crazy. "Got it."

Chris sat behind the monitor, took off his glasses, and put them on the table. "Making us all wait, like the other actors' time doesn't matter? Is she gonna cover the extra costs? Even if Dynamic Entertainment is funding this, that's no excuse for her being late!"

The assistant was sweating bullets because the call hadn't gone through yet.

Natalie checked the time; Samantha was already 45 minutes late.

Yvonne was behind her, fixing her hair. Natalie smiled and said to Yvonne, "I can handle it myself."

Yvonne handed her a coffee. "Natalie, if you're tired of waiting, we can chill in the lounge. It's windy here."

Natalie said, "No worries. By the way, Yvonne, count the people and order some juice and coffee for everyone."

Yvonne nodded. "Okay, I'll get on it. Natalie, what flavor do you want?"

Natalie replied, "A latte is cool."

About 16 minutes later, the coffee Yvonne ordered showed up. It was from the nearest coffee shop, with a bunch of flavors, totaling 26 cups.

"Natalie is treating everyone to coffee, grab one." Yvonne handed out the coffee. Harper's assistant, Shirley Moore, took a cup and was a bit surprised, asking, "I get one too?"

Yvonne smiled and squinted. "Natalie said everyone gets one."

Shirley said enviously, "Natalie is so nice. Yvonne, you're really lucky to work with such a chill artist."

Assistants knew each other's struggles. Popular artists had a ton of demands, while less popular ones had low pay and still a lot to do. Although Harper was easy to get along with, she had many demands, and Shirley often felt swamped.

Yvonne said, "Actually, I've been with Natalie for less than a week. Mindy assigned me to her. But Natalie is really nice, good-natured, gentle, and treats us assistants very well. She hardly has any other demands. I feel quite lucky, but I'm not Natalie's permanent assistant. I'm afraid once this project is over, I'll have to work with another artist."

Shirley said, "Same here. But now I'm Harper's permanent assistant. Harper is nice, just demanding and sometimes has a temper."

Yvonne stuck out her tongue and lowered her voice. "I used to work with Samantha. She's the one who has a temper."
