"Dr. Collins, how can my baby be okay? I was pushed so hard. Even if it didn't cause a miscarriage, it must have hurt the baby." She pulled out a bank card from her bag.
After the doctor left, Renee came in. "Miss, I heard Mr. Howard's grandfather is in his ward now."
"His grandfather's here?" Alice stood up immediately. Renee stepped forward to help her. After a few steps, Alice turned back. "Where's my hospital gown?"
Alice hated the hospital gown and refused to wear it, but now she had to.
Renee got the hint. "It's in the restroom. I'll grab it."
Alice moved swiftly, her actions betraying no sign of her pregnancy. She looked ready to sprint at any moment. Her destination was a different floor from Adrian's hospital room. Exiting the elevator, Renee supported her as they reached the door to Adrian's room. With a faint appearance of exhaustion, Alice pushed open the door and feigned surprise as she looked at the people inside the room."Mr. Howard, Mr. Murphy, Mrs. Howard, you're all here."
Her innocent act was spot on.
Melissa was shocked to see her in a hospital gown. "Alice, what happened to you?"
Alice hesitated, glancing at Adrian. "Oh, I'm fine, really, just..."
Renee, supporting her, got a look from Alice and was about to say, "Ms. Cullen was..."
Before she could finish, a deep, hoarse voice cut in.
Adrian looked at Alice, a warning in his eyes. "She accidentally bumped into something. To be safe, we had her checked out and she's resting here."
Renee was stunned. She looked at Alice, as if asking what to do.
Renee had planned to blame Natalie in front of Ruben and the Howard family, but Adrian interrupted, saying it was Alice's own accident.
Alice's face darkened. Adrian's warning made her anxious. She forced a stiff smile. "Yes, I accidentally bumped into something."
Claire walked over, concerned. "How could you be so careless?"
Melissa asked, "What did the doctor say? How are you feeling now?"
Alice weakly leaned against Renee, forcing a smile. "Don't worry about me. I'm fine."
Claire said, "Look at you; your face is so pale. How can you be fine?"
Renee said bluntly, "Ms. Cullen was worried about Adrian's health and wanted to see him. I couldn't stop her. She hadn't even finished her IV drip and rushed over."
Ruben stood up. "Alice, you need to rest and be more careful."
Alice nodded. "I understand, Grandpa Howard."
Renee took Alice back to her ward. Claire, still worried, followed them. Once in the ward, she told Renee, "You must take good care of your Miss."
Renee replied, "Of course."
At that moment, Aria walked in. Having been bribed by Alice in advance, she took on a serious tone and said, "Ms. Cullen, what on earth are you doing running around? The baby you're carrying is in a very delicate state!"
