Chapter 629 Leading Lady
Juniper watched Natalie do her thing and let out a little snicker, then leaned over to Wesley, a male supporting actor, and whispered something. They both chuckled.
"Natalie’s got the looks, no doubt, but that doesn’t mean she can act. She might just be another pretty face," Wesley said. He had busted his butt for his role, with his agent pulling strings and Wesley himself grinding hard, studying the character and nailing the auditions. Naturally, he had no respect for those who landed roles thanks to rich and powerful backers.
Oscar had been yapping for over two hours and was starting to feel it.
He took a swig of water and said, "Alright, take five. In ten minutes, we’ll dive into character analysis."
Oscar had always looked up to Samuel. He followed him out to the small balcony. They started shooting the breeze. Oscar’s wife, Patricia, was a big-shot producer and tight with Victoria, who was super close to Samuel. Oscar had heard Patricia talk about Samuel a lot. For years, Patricia had been trying to get Oscar and Samuel to team up on a film, but it never worked out until now because of scheduling and role issues.
"Honestly, I didn’t think you’d go for this role. It’s not a big one. I’ve been working on this script for years, and it’s more about Zoey, from a girl’s perspective." Oscar was super protective of his scripts. He didn’t let actors mess with the lines or change anything. Even a tiny tweak would set him off.
Even though Oscar admired Samuel, he wasn’t gonna change the story or characters just because Samuel was a big deal.
At most, he’d beef up the male lead’s scenes a bit.
But the story had to be from Zoey’s point of view.
The heart and soul of the story had to be Zoey.
Samuel got what Oscar was saying and gave a little smile. "I know. I took this role because the timing was right, and I’m tight with Natalie." He paused. "And I’ve always wanted to work with you."
Oscar laughed out loud. "I don’t buy that last part. I had a perfect role for you before, but you passed. Now you take a smaller part. It’s because of Natalie, right? You’ve got a thing for her."
Samuel leaned on the railing, looking out the window. The breeze from the half-open window brushed his cheek, showing off his sharp profile. Samuel’s eyes were on the view outside. "Natalie’s a hardworking and smart girl. Whenever I see her, I feel this sense of closeness. I know people have their doubts about her. Oscar, you should give her a chance. She won’t let you down."
Samuel had decided to take the role because he heard Natalie was the lead.
Natalie was the main actress, and it was her first big gig.
Samuel was a big star, and Natalie was a newbie. Samuel joining this film seemed a bit off. The entertainment world was a mess, but Natalie was pure and genuine. Samuel wanted to be close to her, and if he could help her out, he was all in.
Oscar followed Samuel’s gaze through the glass door, looking at the living room outside.
