Chapter 311 Suspicion (2)
It was a phone from a well-known brand.
Rosalie came out with a bowl of chicken soup and set it on the table. She glanced at Natalie and then at her phone, looking a bit guilty. "I was just watching a show and clicked on an ad."
Natalie sipped her soup. "Mom, that looks like Alice."
"Maybe," Rosalie said, lowering her head. "Ms. Cullen seems to be in the entertainment industry now."
"Yeah, she was filming recently. I even stood in for her in a few scenes," Natalie said, pursing her lips. The pay was good, after all.
Rosalie asked, "So you saw Ms. Cullen?"
Natalie nodded. "Yes, I did."
A flash of worry crossed Rosalie's face. "How's her leg?"
Natalie paused, frowning as she looked at Rosalie. "Mom, how did you know Alice hurt her leg?"
Rosalie quickly said, "I saw it on my phone; it was a push notification."
With the internet being so advanced, you could know anything.
Natalie didn't doubt it. Alice was filming with Nora, Alaric, and Samuel, who had lots of fans and photos taken. It was easy for Rosalie to know about Alice's injury.
Natalie said, "Mom, what does this have to do with us? This is our home now, not the Cullen family's. We don't need to live in someone else's house anymore."
Natalie knew Rosalie had a soft heart. Since childhood, Rosalie had been very good to Alice. Even when Alice cut her own toys and blamed it on Natalie, Rosalie would always apologize. She made nutritious food for Alice every day and took care of her when she broke her arm.
Natalie always felt Rosalie was too humble, like a servant to the Cullen family.
"Natalie, no matter what, we lived with the Cullen family for a long time, and Alice is also..." Rosalie looked at Natalie. "I watched her grow up."
Natalie didn't want to argue. "Mom, we've left the Cullen family. We have our own lives now. The Cullen family's issues aren't ours. Alice and Avery always treated us badly. You almost died at Shoreview General Hospital!"
Rosalie said anxiously, "That was Avery's doing, not Alice's. She's innocent."
Natalie gripped her spoon tightly, staring at Rosalie's thin face. "Mom, Alice is the Cullen family's daughter. You don't need to worry about her."
Rosalie's concern for Alice was strange, almost like Alice was her daughter. This thought made Natalie's pupils contract slightly.
Rosalie seemed to realize what Natalie was thinking and quickly said, "I was just saying it casually. Of course, I don't need to worry about Alice. I'll live well with you from now on."
Natalie said, "Alright, Mom, you're tired. Go rest. I'll rest after I finish eating."
Rosalie got up, afraid of revealing more. She returned to her bedroom.
After finishing her soup, Natalie went to her bedroom. She lay on the bed, eyes closed, but her mind was on the DNA test between her and Rosalie, which showed their blood types didn't match.
She initially thought the testing center made a mistake, but Rosalie's reaction to Alice's injury was too strange. That kind of instinctive concern was impossible to hide.
Even if Rosalie had been a servant to the Cullen family and watched Alice grow up, this wasn't the kind of concern a servant should have.
