Chapter 429 It's Not What You Think

This morning, Natalie was shooting a scene with Samantha over at North Hill Park.

Connor, one of the assistant directors, was running the show today. He had some beef with Chris, but they both worked for Esme.

Natalie's character, Luna, was this sweet and gorgeous girl who was tight with Samantha's character.

Natalie'd got three more days of filming left. She didn't have a ton of scenes, but she was on set every day. Even though she didnn't have many lines, she was super serious about her role. She never messed up during filming and even knew her co-stars' lines. She usually nailed it in one take, unless something external messed it up, like a bad camera angle.

Today, Samantha wasn't late. At 9 AM sharp, her car pulled up at the entrance of North Hill Park.

The park was closed early for the shoot, but there were still a bunch of tourists hanging around. Lots of people were snapping pics and videos with their phones, and there were even some pro photographers. Samantha and Natalie might not be super famous, but this was Esme's show, so it drew a crowd.

Since Samantha snagged the lead role in Esme's show, her Facebook followers shot up by 500,000 the day it was announced. With her weekly selfies and videos, she'd already hit over a million followers on Facebook.

She was just waiting for the show to air so she could start raking in the cash.

As soon as Samantha got out of the car, she shielded her forehead with her hand. "It's too sunny, Heather, can you hold the umbrella right?"

Heather quickly adjusted the umbrella.

Samantha walked in, and everyone else was already there, ready to roll. Heather handed her the script, with lines highlighted in light pink. Samantha had stayed up late last night and yawned as she glanced at the lines; she hadn't had time to memorize them.

Seeing Samantha arrive, Connor quickly said, "Wow, you're actually on time."

Even though Samantha had just graduated, she was good at bantering with guys. "Connor, you make it sound like I'm late every day."

Her voice was soft and sweet, and most guys liked that.

Even though Samantha was often late, she had strong backing. As a newcomer, Dynamic Entertainment Media gave her the lead role in this movie. Connor, as an assistant director, pretended not to notice her frequent tardiness.

Plus, Samantha was beautiful, and guys are always more lenient with pretty girls.

"Alright, go memorize your lines. We'll start shooting in fifteen minutes," Connor said, glancing at Natalie, who was chatting with the crew without a script in hand. He frowned.

Connor knew of Natalie but hadn't worked with her much. She had few scenes, mostly shot by Chris.

Connor's impression of Natalie was that she was kind of aloof. She was pretty and well-made-up but too quiet. In the commercialized entertainment industry, artists like her had a hard time standing out.

Even if she was pretty, Dynamic Entertainment Media gave her a minor role.

However, coming to the shoot without a script made Connor think less of Natalie.

"Scene 89, take 7, action."

Samantha grabbed Natalie's hand, her eyes red as if she were upset. "Luna, are you taking Ruby's side now too?"

Natalie replied, "Catherine, I just think you and Ruby can have a good talk. Things might not be as you think. Don't get upset yet. Send Ruby a text and ask what's going on. Maybe she and Ethan King aren't what you think."
