"Hello, Carlos," Alice said.
"Alice, what's wrong?" a voice echoed from the other end of the line. Carlos, ensnared within a dense forest, was momentarily distracted. A woman's hand, which had been in the process of undoing his belt stilled. The woman before him gazed at him with a blend of seduction and vulnerability.Balancing the phone against his ear, Carlos gently caressed the woman's cheek with his free hand. His playful expression morphed into one of surprise as he processed the words filtering through the phone. "What?" he exclaimed, "You're pregnant?"His playful demeanor evaporated, replaced by a knowing smile. "Alice, don't worry. I'll come to find you. Let's meet at Outroom Cafe at three o'clock this afternoon," he assured her. After ending the call, the woman before him pouted coquettishly. "Carlos, you're so bad. I'm here, but you're thinking about other women.""Flora, my heart is all yours, even here..." he reassured her, guiding her hand downwards. Flora's cheeks flushed a deep red, "Carlos, you're so naughty."...By four o'clock in the afternoon, Alice had met with Carlos and left Outroom Cafe. She headed straight to the adjacent commercial building. After a thorough online search for a picture of a dark green tie, she finally found it. "This is the one, wrap it up," she instructed. Unexpectedly, a cheap tie had caused a rift between her and Adrian. But, she mused, perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. This child, whose timing was eerily similar to the night Natalie and Adrian had spent at the hotel, could be her saving grace. She could use this to her advantage and convince Adrian to marry her as soon as possible!The next day, Adrian emerged from a meeting room. Brice approached him, his voice low, "Ms. Cullen is here." Adrian nodded and entered his office. The first thing he noticed was a gift box on his desk, containing a dark green tie. He stared at the tie, entranced. Alice, her eyes reddened, approached him. "Adrian..." she began, wrapping her arms around him, "What's been going on with you these past few days? You haven't been returning my calls, and I miss you so much."Adrian responded formally, "I've just been busy with work lately.""I really miss you, I know I was wrong," Alice whispered, her voice choked with emotion. Adrian gently removed her hands from his body. "I still have work to do. Alice, please go back first."As Adrian moved away, a surprised cry echoed behind him. He turned to see Alice, her face pale, collapsing. He rushed to her side, catching her before she hit the ground.In the hospital, Alice lay on the bed, with Adrian standing vigilantly by her side. He turned to the doctor, "How is she?""Congratulations, Mr. Howard. Ms. Cullen is pregnant," the doctor said.
Adrian was taken aback. He moved to Alice's side, studying her pale, weak face. He sank into a nearby chair, his mind reeling.The doctor said, "Ms. Cullen's body is weak, she needs to avoid certain foods and rest for a while. I'll prescribe some medicine for her to take once a day."An hour later, Alice slowly opened her eyes. "Adrian..." she began, her voice barely above a whisper. She knew Adrian was a smart man, one who despised deception.
