Chapter 441 Obedient Artist
Mindy didn't wanna mess with Natalie's opinion. "Alright, whatever you say. Heather, you handle the paperwork. Since Natalie likes you, stick with her and do your best. If you hit a snag, holler at me right away."
The crew bounced outta the conference room, leaving just Lydia, Samantha, and Tessa behind.
Lydia had this kinda surprised look in her eyes.
Samantha pouted. "Lydia, why didn't you back me up just now? I can't stand Heather. She's always nagging and bossy. She shut down my promotion and put me in a less important role."
Lydia sighed. "Heather might be young, but she's sharp. She turned down that ad 'cause she thought it might mess with your future. The brand's products are kinda sketchy."
Samantha snapped back, "I'm not the only one who took it. Many artists did! Their managers didn't make a fuss about it."
Lydia just shook her head, feeling kinda speechless at Samantha. How could the company hand over a prime gig like Esme's film to someone just looking for quick cash?
Lydia couldn't wrap her head around it but didn't wanna push it.
She'd known Heather for a bit and got her vibe. Samantha was too spoiled, and her assistant Tessa, if she wasn't Samantha's relative, wouldn't have even made it past the first round to be an assistant at Dynamic Entertainment Media.
Tessa gave Samantha a pat on the shoulder, and Samantha suggested, "Lydia, now that Heather's out and I don't have an agent, I think Tessa's perfect for the job."
Lydia shot back, "Samantha, do you know what kinda artists Dynamic Entertainment Media loves the most?"
Samantha shook her head.
Lydia replied, "Obedient ones."
Samantha was stunned for a sec. "Lydia, I just wanna switch my agent."
Lydia said, "I'll get you a new agent. Tessa can still be your assistant if you want. If you insist, I can get you an assistant from Dynamic Entertainment Media."
Samantha's face twisted. "Lydia! Why can't I pick my own agent? You know my career plan's solid. Once Esme's film drops, I'll be a star with $10 billion in box office revenue, way beyond where I am now. Why can Natalie, a supporting actress, pick her agent but I can't?"
She didn't want Heather, and Mindy shot her down. But as soon as Natalie showed up, she could snag Heather.
Mindy didn't say much and even agreed.
Lydia said, "Exactly 'cause your plan's solid, I need to get you the right agent."
She couldn't let Samantha get wrecked by her own relatives. Relatives as agents tend to be too controlling, and emotions could mess with work.
Lydia was also curious about Natalie.
What was Natalie's deal?
Lydia noticed something earlier: when Mindy and Natalie turned to leave the conference room, they both headed for the door at the same time. Mindy stepped aside first, letting Natalie go out.
Mindy was one of the top five managers at Dynamic Entertainment Media and in the whole entertainment biz.
At Dynamic Entertainment Media, Lydia had to show major respect when she saw Mindy, let alone a newbie like Natalie.
Could Natalie have some serious connections? If she did, why was she playing a supporting role?
Lydia asked, "Samantha, did you hang out with Natalie on set? Do you know her well?"
Even though Natalie's lines, acting, and dedication on set were way better than Samantha's, Samantha didn't think much of her. "She's got a boyfriend. He calls her a lot."
Lydia was floored. "She's got a boyfriend?"
Dynamic Entertainment Media kept a tight leash on their artists' private lives.
Natalie's main manager, Mindy, wouldn't let her date.
Lydia asked, "Does Mindy know about this?"
