Chapter 847 The Invitation

Curtis snapped, "You hid the ultrasound report about the ectopic pregnancy. Think I wouldn't find out? You and Alice are trying to trap the Howard family! Look at Alice now; you've ruined her!"

A perfectly good girl, now lost her uterus.

How would she supposed to get married now?

Curtis knew the Howard family wouldn't marry Alice; the engagement announcement was just a matter of time.

They hadn't announced it yet out of respect for him; doing it right after the miscarriage would be too harsh on Alice.

Taken aback, Avery didn't expect Curtis to yell at her and bring up Natalie.

Avery broke down, shouting, "All you care about is Natalie. You still have feelings for Rosalie! I know you've been in touch with her. Tell me, is Natalie the child you had with Rosalie? Are you two plotting against me? You don't care about me or Alice at all."

With that, Avery started crying.

"You're being completely unreasonable! I can't talk to you!" Curtis shouted, thuding his phone to the ground..

Even though it landed on the carpet, the screen shattered.

Skylar, who was nearby, was startled and cautiously picked up the phone.

Curtis was still fuming, his chest heaving, and he pounded the table with his fists.

Skylar trotted over and placed the shattered phone on the table. She had overheard Curtis and Avery's conversation and vaguely knew that the couple had had a fight. Skylar, who was only twenty-eight years old, had a good figure and was wearing a deep V-neck white blazer with black lace underneath. She handed Curtis a glass of water and said, "Mr. Cullen, don't be angry. Have some water to calm down."

Curtis looked at the young, beautiful, and energetic Skylar beside him. When Skylar handed him the water, she deliberately bent over, revealing the perfect crack of her chest. Curtis thought of Avery's unreasonable behavior and looked at the beautiful and lively secretary in front of him, and for a moment, he lost his composure.

Although Curtis was over 50 years old and had a potbelly, he still had the charm of a middle-aged man. Plus, Curtis was the owner of a small company and had money, so Skylar was momentarily captivated.

Skylar leaned into Curtis's arms, tearfully recounting the humiliating things Avery had said to her.

Curtis gently comforted her, feeling a renewed sense of energy. He took out a BVLGARI necklace, which was originally meant for Avery, from the drawer. Curtis had bought it for their wedding anniversary. At this moment, he gave it to Skylar.

The necklace was worth almost half of Skylar's annual salary. She immediately simpered, "Thank you, Mr. Cullen. You're so kind."

Thinking of the dull, bad-tempered, and unreasonable Avery at home, Curtis clearly preferred the young, beautiful, and energetic Skylar in his arms. "It's just a necklace. I'll buy you more the like of it in the future."

Skylar immediately smiled shyly.

Rebecca's socialite party had sent out all the invitations, and almost all the socialites in Vachilit had received invitations, including Rachel, but not Alice.

It wasn't because Alice was lying in the hospital, but because Rebecca had never planned to send Alice an invitation.
