Chapter 105 It's You
Paul nodded in agreement, issuing his command with a stern voice, "Keep a watchful eye on her. Do not disturb her rest. Inform me the moment she regains consciousness." He paused for a moment, contemplating before issuing another directive, "Carlos is not to approach her again."
Despite his disapproval of Carlos's actions towards Rachel, the deed was already done, and Carlos was his son. He was duty-bound to protect his offspring, even if it meant keeping secrets. Having watched Rachel grow from a child into a woman, he felt a deep familial bond with her.
In the dead of night, within the confines of room 211, Rachel stirred.
Her eyes fluttered open, her body aching from head to toe.
A low groan escaped her lips.
The discomfort was unbearable.
She glanced around the dimly lit room, her mind racing. This was...
Suddenly, the realization dawned on her. This was Jamie's room.
The thought sent a wave of embarrassment coursing through her.
She had never been in such a situation before, but the soreness enveloping her body and the discomfort she felt beneath her were clear indicators of her night with Jamie.
Rachel's bright eyes darted around the room. This was Jamie's room, but he was nowhere to be found.
A quick glance at the clock revealed it was already 2 a.m.
As she attempted to rise from the bed, Rachel nearly lost her footing.
She hadn't expected someone as cold and distant as Jamie to be so passionate.
But why had he left? Why hadn't he stayed to comfort her?
After all, she had given him her first time.
...
The next morning, the Howard family's car was parked at the front door.
Alice was a bundle of nerves. The timeline of her pregnancy was completely off. If she underwent an ultrasound, the discrepancy would be discovered, landing her in hot water.
She had hoped to conceal the truth for a few more months, marry Adrian, and then find a plausible excuse to terminate the pregnancy. She hadn't anticipated the Howard family's concern for their lineage. They insisted on monitoring her and having her examined immediately.
The previous night, she had reached out to Carlos. She was unsure of the arrangements he had made.
As Alice approached the villa, Jonny spotted her and promptly exited the car to greet her, "Ms. Cullen, please enter the vehicle. Mrs. Murphy has prior engagements today. She has entrusted me with accompanying you to your appointment."
Alice's eyes lit up at the sight of Jonny, "It's you!"
Was he not the person Carlos had dispatched the previous night?
Jonny reassured her, "Do not worry, Ms. Cullen. Carlos has made all the necessary arrangements."
Her face brightened instantly, her worries evaporating as she followed Jonny into the car.
On the second night, at the Imperial Nightclub, Natalie was enjoying a brief respite in the lounge. Suddenly, the tranquility was shattered by a knock on the door. The door swung open, and a frantic Susan burst in. "Natalie, Natalie, something terrible has happened to Denise!"
Natalie was taken aback. "What happened? Calm down!"
Susan gripped Natalie's wrist, pulling her towards the door as she explained, "I'm not entirely sure. Lily mentioned that Denise appears to have stolen something."
"Stolen something? That's impossible!"
Natalie had worked alongside Denise for years and was certain that Denise was incapable of such an act.
The pair hurriedly made their way to room 413.
A crowd had congregated at the entrance.
"This waitress, she stole my belongings! I stepped away to use the restroom, and upon my return, my bracelet was missing! It had twenty-three pink diamonds! How could the Imperial Nightclub harbor thieves!"
Melody was also present in the room, "I apologize, ma'am. I have dispatched someone to review the surveillance footage. We will definitely help you find your bracelet."
She glanced at Denise and said, "Denise, apologize to this lady."
Denise quickly said, "Ms. Nicholson, I really didn't steal anything!"
Melody gave her a stern look and scolded, "Shut up. I told you to apologize, so apologize!"
