Chapter 259 The Pendant
Inside the RV, Alice woke up and saw it was already 5:20 PM. The crew was wrapping up.
"Karen, didn't I ask you to tell me if Natalie came by?" Alice asked.
Karen replied, "Ms. Cullen, you were sleeping so soundly. I didn't want to wake you. You need your rest."
Alice touched her abdomen and asked, "Did they shoot the afternoon scenes? Was Kevin mad?"
Karen snorted. "What can he do if he's mad? Dynamic Entertainment is the main investor and distributor. Ms. Cullen, you need to take care of yourself. The baby is the priority."
Dynamic Entertainment's execs had told Karen to make sure Alice didn't get too tired, especially since she was carrying Adrian's child.
Alice called Adrian. When he picked up, she said softly, "Adrian, are you free tonight? I'm so tired from filming, and the baby kicked me, saying it misses you."
As expected, Adrian said, "I still have work to finish," and hung up. Alice then told the driver, "Take me to the Howard family."
If Adrian wasn't coming, she'd go to him. If she couldn't hold onto Adrian, she'd secure Claire and Ruben.
At the Howard family, Alice gagged a few times while eating. Claire immediately showed concern. "Are you okay, Alice?"
Alice replied, "I'm fine. My morning sickness has been getting worse."
Claire said, "It's always tough with the first child. I'll have Mia prepare some supplements for you."
Alice smiled. "Aunt Claire, it's not hard at all. Just thinking this is Adrian's and my child makes me so happy."
Claire thought Alice would make a good wife, despite Adrian's drastic change in temperament.
Claire noticed the diamond necklace around Alice's neck. "Alice, why aren't you wearing the pendant Adrian gave you?"
Alice was momentarily stunned. 'When did Adrian give me a pendant?' she thought, trying to remember.
Claire continued, "When Adrian was little, he wasn't very healthy. I bought a pendant and prayed for his protection. Later, he went on a trip to Silvervale Town, and there was an earthquake. He was trapped but only hurt his leg, thanks to God's protection. That pendant has always been with him. Since he gave it to you, it signifies your bond."
Alice was shocked but kept her expression neutral. "I think it's too precious to wear around, so I kept it in a box for safekeeping."
Claire nodded with a smile. "Wear it at the next family gathering. It looks good and will protect you and the baby."
Alice smiled sweetly. "Okay."
Leaving the Howard family, Alice felt uneasy. She returned to the Cullen family and searched her bedroom but couldn't find any pendant. Most of the jewelry in her box was her own.
'Did Adrian give it to Natalie?' Alice thought.
Alice gritted her teeth. "Natalie! I knew she had something to threaten me with. She kept such a valuable item!"
She called Renee and went to the small house where Natalie used to live. It was locked. She told Renee, "Break it open!"
Renee complied and broke the lock in a few hits.
They went inside, but since Natalie had already moved out, the house was empty. Alice stomped her foot. "Do you know where Natalie is living now?"
Renee replied, "I'm not sure. I'll ask Lizzy. Natalie and Lizzy are quite close."
