Chapter 325 She Is Curtis's Daughter
Natalie got home and found a note from Rosalie on the dining table. Rosalie had gone out with their neighbor, Sierra Harrison, and left breakfast in the kitchen.
After eating and showering, Natalie, feeling awake despite last night's drinks, hesitated before heading into Rosalie's bedroom. The room was tidy, with simple bed sheets and covers.
She opened the bedside table drawer and found a locked metal box. Growing up in a small town with Helen, Natalie had learned some lock-picking tricks from a neighbor boy whose dad was a locksmith. She used a piece of wire to easily open the lock.
Around noon, Natalie's phone buzzed, snapping her back to reality. She had two messages: one from the phone company and one from Rosalie, saying she'd be back later and there were raviolis in the freezer.
Natalie replied with a shaky "Okay," put the diary back in the box, locked it, and returned it to the drawer. She then stepped out to the balcony, feeling a chill despite the warm noon sun. Her mind was reeling from the revelation in Rosalie's diary: her biological father was Curtis, not Stanley.
Rosalie returned in the afternoon just as Natalie was about to take out the trash. Rosalie was carrying a bunch of things in her hands. "Natalie, Sierra told me today that she has a coworker's son who's about your age. Are you free this afternoon? Why don't you meet him?"
Natalie, surprisingly calm, agreed.
Rosalie noticed the trash bag and Natalie's change of clothes. "Are you going out?" she asked.
"No, just cleaning up," Natalie replied. "Have you eaten?"
"Yes, with Sierra," Rosalie said.
"Mom, when is the date?"
Rosalie was surprised that Natalie agreed so readily. She had brought up this topic a few times before, but Natalie had always refused. Now, Rosalie smiled and said, "I'll go ask her right now. Wait for me."
Two minutes later, Rosalie returned. "Natalie, it's set for 4 pm today. That way, you can finish your blind date, meet with me, and still be able to go to work at 8 pm."
Natalie just smiled faintly and said, "Mom, it's still early. Why don't we go visit Dad and brother together? We can bring them some flowers."
Rosalie's face changed slightly. "Now?"
