Chapter 720 Having to Let Go
Upon hearing this, Daniel responed quickly, "Mom, you handle it."
Melissa sighed, "Daniel, you gotta get it. This time, for our Murphy Family to survive this mess, we need the Howard Family's help, big time."
Seeing Daniel couldn't care less, Melissa didn't push it. Since he already agreed to the blind date, the rest would just fall into place.
Plus, ever since the Murphy Group hit that financial snag, Daniel had stepped up and taken charge.
Melissa knew better than to push him. Daniel had grown up a lot, and forcing him was pointless, so she bounced.
The wind scattered the ashes on the ground.
Daniel took a deep drag of his cigarette, his face hidden in the smoke.
When he left six months ago, Daniel thought he'd come back and openly chase after Natalie.
But now, he knew he had to let go.
When Adrian walked into the study, Alice was there, laying out sheet music for Claire.
Whenever Alice had time, she'd swing by the Howard Mansion to hang with Claire. Alice rarely saw Adrian, so she stuck close to Claire.
Seeing Adrian come in, Alice lit up. "Adrian, you're here."
Adrian strolled in, stone-faced. "Can you step out for a sec? I need to talk to my mom alone."
Alice's smile froze. She finally saw Adrian, and the first thing he said to her was to ask her to leave.
Biting her lip, Alice glanced at Claire and noticed that since Adrian walked in, Claire's eyes were glued to him. Claire didn't even think to ask Alice to stay.
Alice had no choice but to leave. Meanwhile, Odette was calling and nagging her to go back. If they left now, she'd hit Rosewood City in two hours, and she had filming the next day.
Alice was bummed; she wanted more time with Adrian.
Alice snapped to the phone, "Just wait another half hour."
Odette said, "Half an hour more would make it too late. You need your beauty sleep, or you'll look puffy on camera tomorrow."
"Alright." Alice hung up, staring thoughtfully at the study.
Inside the study, Claire said, "How was it? I played the piano pretty well today, didn't I?"
Adrian said seriously, "Mom, I need to talk to you."
Claire seated herself couch and said, "Tell me."
Adrian cut to the chase, "Did you go see Natalie?"
Claire was momentarily stunned. "So, you're here to blame me for that?"
Adrian rounded on her, "That's not it, but Mom, you know I like Natalie. Why make it hard for her?"
Claire's face darkened. "Make it hard for Natalie? She asked for a million bucks to break up with you. Now that she has the money, is she planning to back out? She must've complained to you, right? Did she badmouth me? She's trying to drive a wedge between us."
"Natalie didn't say anything, nor did she try to come between us. She actually asked me to understand you." Adrian couldn't get why Claire was so against Natalie. "Natalie is a good girl. You'll see if you spend some time with her."
Claire huffed, "I don't want to spend time with her. Before, I thought she was just ambitious, trying to climb up. But now I realise my mistake."
