Chapter 1020 Slapping Cassidy in the Face
Melissa and Rachel strolled into the lounge, immediately sensing something was off.
Rachel, picking up on the vibe, asked, "What's up?"
A socialite close to Rachel chimed in, "It's Ms. Teeger and Mrs. Reynolds. No, wait, it's Ms. Teeger and Cassidy."
"Natalie's here?" Melissa was a bit taken aback and headed over with Rachel.
Cassidy, spotting Melissa, grinned. "Mrs. Murphy, come check this out. This is the owner of Blue Moon Lake. We can't just ignore her."
Even though Cassidy said this, her tone was dripping with sarcasm.
Melissa and Rachel walked over, and Rachel greeted Natalie. "Natalie, you're here too."
Natalie nodded at them. "Aunt Melissa, Rachel."
Cassidy's face went rigid as she thought, 'Wait, Natalie is Adrian's wife?' She glanced at Melissa in shock.
Melissa said, "Oh, I forgot to introduce you. Natalie is Adrian's wife."
Cassidy was floored. The owner of Blue Moon Lake Estate, the daughter of Lauchelle, and the wife of Adrian Howard—all these powerful identities belonged to Natalie.
Trying to mask her shock, Cassidy forced a smile. "Sorry if my hospitality was lacking. I'll make it up to Mrs. Howard another day."
Melissa, clueless about the tension, asked, "What happened?"
Natalie shrugged. "Nothing much. I think Mrs. Reynolds is just really excited because it's her birthday today."
"You didn't tell me you were coming. I thought you'd be busy with filming, so I just brought Rachel," Melissa said.
Natalie explained, "It's my friend, Heather. She's dating Mrs. Reynolds' son. She told me about the birthday, so we came together."
"Your son has a girlfriend?" Melissa asked Cassidy.
Cassidy replied, "I didn't know either. I guess he's just dating for fun."
Natalie gently prodded, "Mrs. Reynolds, isn't Yancy here? It's your birthday, and he hasn't shown up yet?"
Everyone knew Cassidy and Yancy didn't get along. Cassidy smiled and said, "He's busy. He already called to wish me a happy birthday."
Natalie turned to Heather. "How can this be? It's his mom's birthday. He should be here. Heather, call your boyfriend and ask him to come if he can."
"Okay," Heather said, pulling out her phone to call Yancy.
Yancy, knowing Heather was there, was probably already on his way.
"Hey, Yancy, where are you?"
"At the entrance of the estate. I'll be there soon." Yancy knew Cassidy's personality and worried she might give Heather a hard time.
Cassidy had been setting Yancy up on blind dates with various socialites, even though he made it clear he liked Heather.
Heather stepped out of the banquet hall to wait for Yancy. About five minutes later, Yancy walked in with Heather.
Many wealthy ladies were whispering behind their backs.
"Cassidy and her illegitimate son have always had a rocky relationship. After Xavier died, Cassidy wanted to restore Yancy's status, but he didn't acknowledge her as his mother. Now Yancy doesn't even come to Cassidy's birthday unless his girlfriend calls him."
