Chapter 472 A Tacit Strange Understanding
When Cindy heard the word 'seduce,' she scrunched up her face.
She never thought her usually sweet daughter would drop such a bomb.
She got all serious. "Traylor!"
Traylor knew she messed up, but she wasn't about to back down. "Jagger, come on, you know you like me!"
Jagger looked kinda stuck. "I got suspended 'cause of a medical thing. I really appreciated your help, but the one I like is Natalie. It's always been Natalie. Traylor, I'm sorry for wasting your time. I think I've made myself clear. Please, just stop."
Right there, in front of a bunch of directors, Traylor got totally shut down.
For the first time, Traylor, who'd always had everything handed to her, felt real pain.
Her cheeks went red with shame, and she bolted out, eyes all teary.
Cindy's face was a storm; Traylor had been publicly humiliated.
And just like that, the drama was over.
Cindy shot a look at Jagger, like she wanted to say something but didn't.
Traylor was top-notch, one of the best young docs around. Cindy had big dreams for her and knew she had a thing for Jagger.
When Cindy found out Jagger liked Natalie, she tried to warn Traylor, but it was no use.
Traylor fell for the wrong guy.
Cindy never saw this coming.
Word spread like wildfire. Within hours, the whole hospital knew Jagger had turned Traylor down and that she'd been chasing him hard.
Cindy felt embarrassed.
She eyed Natalie, wondering how a girl from a regular family could outshine Traylor.
Natalie felt the stare. It was obvious and unfiltered.
Natalie looked back, locking eyes with Cindy.
Through her shades, she stared Cindy down. Their eyes met, and Cindy frowned a bit. This chick, that look, it made her uneasy.
This Natalie girl was definitely not simple.
People in the conference room started to leave.
Natalie stood up and looked at Jagger. Jagger looked back.
"I..."
"I..."
They both started talking at the same time.
"You go first."
"No, you go first."
They both laughed.
Natalie said, "Sorry if I caused you any trouble."
Jagger replied, "No, I should be the one apologizing. I didn't think Traylor would cause you issues here."
Natalie shook her head. "It's fine, don't sweat it."
She got up. "I have a friend to meet, so I'm out."
Jagger watched her leave. When she walked out, his eyes dimmed, and he sat back down. Ten minutes later, he got up and went to his office. He opened his computer and typed out a few words: resignation letter.
After leaving the hospital, Natalie headed to a restaurant to meet Heather.
The place was pretty cool, right by the river with a sweet view from the window.
Heather asked, concerned, "How you holding up? You drank a ton last night. Head hurting?"
