Chapter 1031 Adrian's Guilt
"I can't believe it. I like Jamie, and everyone says I can't. But when Jamie likes Andrea, no one bats an eye. It's like all these rules only apply to me. Then it hit me, even without these rules, it wouldn't matter because Jamie doesn't like me at all." Rachel's voice cracked as she started to cry.
Natalie unbuckled her seatbelt, turned around, and hugged Rachel gently.
Rachel buried her face in Natalie's shoulder, and Natalie softly patted her back.
Natalie felt sympathy for Rachel's outburst of tears and a shock at what a woman Andrea was.
Thinking about Adrian and Jamie at the hospital, Natalie knew Rachel wasn't making it up. "Alright, Rachel, stop crying. Your makeup's a mess."
Rachel sniffled, "Natalie, Andrea likes Adrian. You need to watch out. Your wedding with Adrian is coming up, so she might have backed off. But she's sneaky, the type who pretends to care but then stabs you in the back."
"I get it."
Natalie was prepping dinner at Bayview Villa.
She was on the phone with Heather, chatting about work.
Heather sounded a bit off, so Natalie asked what was up.
Heather said, "I haven't been able to reach Yancy for days. Ever since Cassidy's birthday party, he's been MIA. I'm really worried."
"Don't stress. Cassidy is Yancy's mom. He's probably just caught up with something."
"But I've never been completely unable to reach him like this. I went to Blue Bar, and Julian said he hasn't been there for days and couldn't reach him, either," Heather said. "I asked around, and I think something went down right after the party. Cassidy must be controlling him."
"What are you gonna do? If you need help, just say the word," Natalie said.
"I'm planning to go to the Reynolds Group to see Cassidy," Heather said, determined.
Natalie said, "I'll go with you."
Heather refused, "I'll go alone. Cassidy probably only wants to see me."
"Be careful, and call me if anything happens."
"Okay."
While talking to Heather, Natalie placed her phone by the sink as she washed some broccoli to go with the black pepper beef pasta.
She had just blanched it in boiling water. She was making two helpings of pasta.
Then she heard a noise outside, followed by Lucky's barking. It was Adrian. Natalie chatted with Heather a bit longer before ending the call.
Adrian walked in, and Natalie washed her hands and walked over, "You're back?"
"Smells amazing, what are you making?"
"Pasta," Natalie said, standing on her tiptoes to help him loosen his tie.
Adrian rubbed his temples. "I went to the hospital this morning and had a meeting in the afternoon. Natalie, did I ever tell you Jamie has a sister?"
"I was at the hospital this morning too."
"Really?"
"Rachel took me there, and we were standing outside the room."
Adrian held her hand, "Her name is Andrea, Jamie's sister. She's been in a coma for 8 years."
His eyes darkened. "I never thought Andrea would wake up. All these years, I've felt so guilty. If I had taken her away immediately, maybe things would be different. Maybe she'd be healthy now."
