Chapter 691 Star-Crossed Lovers

Finnian gaped at Natalie, like the world just flipped on its head right in front of him.

No wonder Natalie always got whatever she wanted.

No wonder Finnian couldn't figure out who was backing Natalie, no matter how hard he tried.

It turned out to be Adrian all along.

With that kind of muscle, Adrian could've swapped out Lucas with a snap of his fingers. Why all the drama?

Finnian, a bit jittery, asked, "Ms. Teeger, isn't this kinda risky?"

Natalie replied, "Finnian, Adrian's having dinner with some pals in a private room on the sixth floor tonight. It's just a quick hop down to the fifth floor. As long as you go straight to Adrian, it's no biggie. Unless, of course, you think you can't handle it."

Finnian was sweating bullets. "No, I'll get it done for sure. Don't worry, Ms. Teeger."

Adrian was at the Imperial Nightclub today. Natalie had been keeping tabs on his moves.

Melody had always been good to her.

Natalie owed a chunk of her success in showbiz to Melody.

Even though Natalie didn't hit up the Imperial Nightclub often, she kept in touch over the phone.

Natalie pulled out her phone and called Heather, asking her to tag along. Going solo would look too shady. With Heather, it could pass as a script meeting.

Natalie and Heather strolled into private room 502.

Today, Natalie was dolled up with killer makeup, blue eyeshadow giving her that extra oomph. Her long, wavy hair flowed down her back.

Herman's eyes lit up the second he saw Natalie. "Natalie, come on in. Have a seat."

Natalie strolled over. "Mr. Simmons."

Herman eyed Natalie. "Natalie, you called us here today. What's the big deal?"

Hearing this, Natalie chuckled. She hadn't expected Finnian to use her name to reel in Lucas and Herman. In all of Dynamic Entertainment, only a handful knew about her ties with Adrian—besides Mindy and Karen, only Lucas was in the loop. An invite from Natalie was something Lucas couldn't turn down.

As for Herman, he was probably here just because he was thirsty.

Finnian was smart and gutsy enough.

Natalie plopped down on a single sofa to the side. "Mr. Abernathy, you should know what I'm after."

Lucas said, "Natalie, it's crunch time for Dynamic Entertainment Media. What you're asking is tough for me. I know One Day is your baby, but Mrs. Howard called me personally. My hands were tied."

Lucas didn't want to tick anyone off. He was just trying to keep both Claire and Natalie happy.

Lucas went on, "Natalie, I've already hooked you up with new gigs. I've given you the lead in Star-Crossed Lovers, Donovan Morris's new flick that's been in the works for two years, and a high-end endorsement. That's a lot. I can't go toe-to-toe with Mrs. Howard."

Lucas looked down on Natalie, seeing her as just Adrian's side piece. But he couldn't show it, as Adrian valued Natalie, and Lucas couldn't afford to piss him off.

Natalie smiled, "I haven't received Star-Crossed Lovers."

Lucas's face fell. "What?"

Natalie repeated, "I said, I haven't received it. No clue who Mr. Abernathy gave it to or through whom."

Lucas hadn't expected to get played by Mindy. She was really a thorn in his side.

Lucas gritted his teeth. "Natalie, that's on me. Tomorrow, I'll make sure you get Star-Crossed Lover' and throw in another high-end endorsement. Besides One Day, you can pick any project Dynamic Entertainment Media is backing."
