Chapter 1344 One-Fifth of Luck
Rachel was feeling bored and wanted to mess with him, but he was just so dull.
Soon, the waiter brought their coffee and two desserts.
The waiter said, "Hey, we've got a promotion going on. If you spend over $100, you can enter our free order raffle. Just take a photo, post it on social media, and get 50 likes. The worst prize is a free order, and the grand prize is a laptop. Second prize is a smartphone, and third prize is free drinks for a year."
Rachel looked at Elmer. "Wanna give it a shot?"
Winning or not didn't matter; it was all about having some fun.
Besides, they were pretty bored anyway.
Elmer stayed silent.
Rachel raised her hand and gently tugged at Elmer's sleeve. "Come on, Elmer, why are you sulking again? Let's just have some fun. Think about it, participating could save you $100. It's a great deal."
Elmer, exasperated by this woman, reluctantly pulled out his phone. "You're really annoying."
But he didn't actually dislike it.
In fact, he went along with Rachel's suggestion.
Rachel took Elmer's phone and snapped a photo with both of them in it. She opened Elmer's Facebook.
She posted two pictures: one of them together and one of the coffee.
After posting, Rachel glanced at Elmer's expression. She looked at his phone again, and for a moment, she thought about using it to call for help. She hesitated, then composed a message to Adrian.
She hit send, but it showed "Failed to send."
Rachel knew it wouldn't be that easy.
She deleted the message and placed the phone back on the table.
The phone buzzed.
They quickly got 50 likes.
Not only that, but there were also a lot of comments.
"Whoa, who's this girl?"
"Did Elmer lose his phone and someone else found it?"
"This doesn't look like something Elmer would post."
"She's pretty cute. Elmer has good taste."
"Elmer, are you guys having coffee right now?"
Elmer's expression didn't change because of the comments. He called over the waiter, who glanced at the phone. "Alright, the raffle is over here. There are 99 balloons, and you choose one with a dart."
From 15 feet away.
One dart.
Elmer held the dart, and Rachel adjusted his position by tugging on his sleeve. He casually threw it, and they heard the balloon pop. Gold confetti and a slip of paper fell out.
The waiter bent down to pick it up and smiled, "Congratulations, you two. You've won a year's worth of free drinks."
Rachel couldn't believe it; they actually won.
She looked at Elmer. "We won!"
This was Rachel's first time winning anything, and she jumped up in excitement, hugging Elmer.
Elmer was forced to open his arms. He held the woman in his arms, catching a faint scent unique to her. Elmer's lips pressed together slightly, and then a small smile appeared on his face.
Rachel said, "A year's worth of free drinks, Elmer. Looks like we're pretty lucky!"
The waiter added, "Yes, this is our third prize. There are only five of these, and you guys got one of them!"
