Chapter 430 Appreciation
"What else could it be? She hit up Ethan to catch a movie, and he was down. They even hit the library together."
Natalie grabbed Samantha's hand. "I'll go get the lowdown from Ethan."
"Luna." Samantha looked all bummed and stressed out.
Natalie whipped out her phone and dialed Ethan.
She scrunched her face a bit. "Where are you right now?"
Originally, the script had Luna calling Ethan to get the scoop for Catherine.
There was radio silence from the phone, and Natalie stuck to the script.
But outta nowhere, Samantha snatched her phone. "Ethan, did you really go to the movies with Ruby? And you two hit the library together in the evening. Ethan, you weren't like this before."
Behind the monitor, Connor was frowning hard.
Originally, Catherine didn't wanna mess up her friendship with Ruby. She was this generous, beautiful, and cheerful girl, so it stung when she found out Ethan and Ruby were hanging out, but she kept it to herself.
But now, with Samantha flipping the script, Catherine came off looking real bad.
Connor couldn't take it anymore. "Cut!"
Samantha looked at Connor. "Connor."
Connor said, "Samantha, why did you mess with the lines and the plot? Stick to the script. You know Esme hates it when lines get changed."
And the changes totally twisted the character.
Filming got paused. Samantha pouted for a bit but had to roll with the original script. When they started again, Samantha hesitated.
"Luna, what should I do? I don't wanna, don't wanna make things tough for them. But when, when I close my eyes." She paused, totally blanking on the lines.
Natalie softly continued, "But when I close my eyes, I keep thinking about Ruby and me playing in the park when we were kids. I fell into the fake lake, and Ruby almost got pulled in saving me. I can't believe she'd go behind my back to see Ethan. She could've told me. If I knew she liked Ethan too, I would've stepped aside. But now, Ethan and I are already a thing, and we even planned to apply to Crestfield University together."
Samantha bit her lip. "Sorry, I forgot my lines."
Heather rushed over with the script, and Samantha quickly tried to memorize it.
Connor was kinda shocked. He looked at Natalie's delicate profile, listening to her nail the lines. In that moment, Connor thought, 'Maybe Natalie is more cut out for the lead role.'
He didn't expect such a solid performance from a young, non-pro actress.
In that instant, hearing her deliver the lines, he assumed she had this killer storytelling vibe, perfect for Catherine.
Turns out she showed up on set without a script 'cause she already had it all down, even her co-stars' lines.
Connor changed his mind about her. Maybe she was a hidden gem, ready to shine.
Connor got real interested. "Natalie, what were you doing before this?"
Natalie turned and gave a slight smile. "Two months ago, I was a waitress."
Connor pulled out his phone, impressed. "I just realized I don't have your Facebook. Mind adding me?"
While Samantha was cramming her lines, Yvonne handed over Natalie's phone, and Natalie added Connor on Facebook.
Ten minutes later, they were back to filming.
