Chapter 805 A Symbol of Identity
Chris suggested having dinner together in the evening.
Natalie, with Bella by her side, shot it down. "How about tomorrow? If we hit a hundred million dollars, I'll pop a bottle of champagne for you."
Chris nodded, "Deal. We'll celebrate then."
At the Howard Mansion.
"Alice, I've been looking all over for you," Alice said, finding Rachel in the backyard gazebo, deep in conversation with a young woman. Rachel looked like she had a lot on her mind.
Rachel glanced up. "What's up?"
Chloe Henderson, standing nearby, asked, "Who's this?"
Chloe had just gotten back from abroad and was tight with Rachel. She didn't know much about the Howard family's current drama and assumed the woman waddling over with her belly out was one of Rachel's friends.
Rachel just sighed and said, "This is Alice."
Chloe gave a nod and a polite smile to Alice.
Alice jumped in, "Rachel, I wanted to ask you something. I was chatting with some friends about a socialite gathering next week at Blue Moon Lake. You went last time, right? Can you tell me about it?"
Being from a top-tier wealthy family, Rachel always got an invite from Rebecca. She'd been to every socialite event since they started.
Plus, the Hendersons and Howards were tight. The family heads were old pals, and Rachel was close with Chloe, the Hendersons' third daughter.
Rachel shrugged. "Yeah, it's pretty dull. I just go to keep Rebecca happy."
If anyone else had said that, it would've sounded like bragging, but Rachel was just stating facts. A few years back, a top media outlet named the four top socialites of Vachilit: Rachel, Rebecca, Molly, and Madison.
Rebecca's events always had these four. Showing up was a status symbol.
Alice had never been in that league. Getting in this time would be a big deal for her.
Alice asked, "Rachel, the event's next week. Did you get the invite?"
Rachel's lips curled into a smile. "I don't need one."
Chloe laughed, looking at Alice like she was clueless. "Rachel's one of the top four socialites. She doesn't need an invite; she just shows up."
Alice felt her face heat up with embarrassment.
She watched Rachel and Chloe laugh, feeling her cheeks burn. But she couldn't get mad; she couldn't afford to tick off Rachel.
Alice said, "I'm just curious."
Chloe added, "If you're important enough, my sister will send you an invite. If not, well, tough luck."
Alice looked at Chloe and remembered the Hendersons had a third daughter who was 22. Chloe fit the bill.
Alice's face lit up with a smile. "So, you're Chloe. Nice to meet you."
