Chapter 146 Are You So Reluctant?

The car door closed.

Natalie sat up straight, closing her eyes, afraid to look outside the car window.

'Jagger, I wish you a bright future,' Natalie thought.

She couldn't tell if she really loved Jagger, but Jagger had given her brief warmth.

In her most difficult times, Jagger had always been by her side, regardless of her status or the fact that her mother was seriously ill.

Jagger was so warm.

In her ear, she heard Adrian's mocking voice. "Are you so reluctant to leave Jagger?"

Natalie opened her eyes and looked at Adrian with a pair of cold eyes. "Jagger and I have broken up. I hope you can fulfill your promise."

Natalie didn't expect Adrian to actually come to pick her up.

The reason she made that call was just to force Jagger to give up completely.

After the car travelled some distance, Natalie said, "Stop the car, just drop me off on the side of the road."

The driver glanced back at Adrian, who remained silent, so the driver continued driving.

Natalie looked at Adrian. Well, since Adrian was willing to take her home, she would take the free ride. At this moment, looking disheveled with a recent fever, Natalie didn't believe Adrian would do anything to her.

It was rush hour, and the traffic was terrible.

Suddenly, the car jolted, swaying from side to side.

Natalie's body, already weakened by the fever, lurched forward and then swayed to the left.

Suddenly, a hand caught her face.

Natalie almost fell into Adrian's lap.

Adrian's dry and gentle hand held her face. Although Natalie's fever had subsided, she still had a slight fever, and her cheeks were burning. Her hand grabbed Adrian's trousers, squatting in the car in this awkward position.

Natalie's face was thin and small, a bit skeletal, just like her body, thin and small. In Adrian's palm, Natalie's skin was warm, not scalding, but not cold either.

Adrian raised his hand, the other hand pressing against Natalie's forehead.

Natalie was startled.

How did Adrian suddenly become gentle?

Unlike in the morning, when he treated her so roughly.

Just one afternoon, and Adrian seemed like a different person.

Natalie was about to stand up when suddenly the car started and jolted again, her face once again close to Adrian's palm. Suddenly, she heard a muffled laugh. Natalie looked up and saw a faint smile on Adrian's face as if it were an illusion. Adrian seemed to be enjoying her embarrassment, a smile appearing on his face.

Natalie quickly grabbed the seat and sat up straight, leaning against the car door.

The car moved slowly.

Finally, they arrived at the Cullen family's mansion area at 8 o'clock.

Natalie was afraid of being seen by Avery as she arrived in Adrian's car. She decided to get off early. "Just drop me off here. It would be bad if Mrs. Cullen or Ms. Cullen saw me in your car, and it's also to prevent any misunderstandings."

Adrian's car stopped at the entrance of the neighborhood.

Natalie got out of the car and returned home.

Natalie stretched lazily, feeling very hungry. She hadn't eaten much today, and these past few days had been a blur for her. She opened the fridge and saw two tomatoes inside.

She boiled water, preparing to cook a bowl of tomato and egg noodles.

Suddenly, she heard the sound of the door being pushed open outside the yard.

Natalie thought it was Lizzy, the Cullen family's maid.

Natalie never locked the door outside the yard because this was in the well-known Vachilit neighborhood. The attic behind the Cullen family's mansion was relatively safe, and Avery and the others rarely came here. In their eyes, this place was just an abandoned warehouse, and they wouldn't come here to avoid tarnishing their reputation.

"Lizzy, why have you come here?" Natalie asked as she sliced the tomatoes.
