Chapter 714 Leaving Adrian
Alice was always yapping about how Natalie was a total snake, ready to do anything to snag Adrian. But Claire wasn't buying it completely.
Sure, Natalie was just a maid, but she was hustling hard to climb that social ladder.
And yeah, Claire could see Adrian was totally under Natalie's spell.
Adrian and Alice still hadn't tied the knot, all thanks to Natalie.
Claire didn't wanna meddle too much in Adrian's love life.
Back in the day, Claire knew Adrian had a thing for Natalie.
She tried to stay out of it. But now, Things were getting real.
Natalie was messing with too much stuff.
Maybe Natalie wasn't as bad as Alice made her out to be, but she definitely wasn't right for Adrian.
Just three days ago, Adrian was talking about ditching Alice.
No way Claire was letting that fly.
Alice was the daughter-in-law Claire had picked.
Alice had even lost her baby and messed up her leg saving Claire, stuck in bed for over half a year.
Claire was not having it. So, she went to have a chat with Natalie.
"Natalie, I know you're a good girl, but you and Adrian are not happening," Claire said, not wanting to be the bad guy but ending up there anyway.
She pulled out a check from her bag and handed it to Natalie.
"Write whatever amount you want," Claire said. "I know you're under contract with Dynamic Entertainment. This will make sure you get the basics. Don't even think about saying no. In the Howard Group, my word is law, and I can easily cut off all your resources."
Natalie just smiled, "So, Mrs. Howard, are you threatening me?"
"Not exactly a threat. Just a reality check," Claire replied. "You're smart. You know I can make things tough for you. If I say the word, you're done at Dynamic Entertainment."
"That's pretty harsh," Natalie said with a faint smile without turning a hair. She sighed. "Alright, I'll think about it."
"Natalie, you've got a bright future in showbiz. Don't let a relationship that's not yours mess that up. You're not on Adrian's level. I don't care much about social status, but Adrian's wife won't be a maid."
That hit a nerve, and Natalie's smile wavered. "Mrs. Howard, I don't want a check. I want cash. And I want a transfer statement saying you gave it to me willingly, not that I extorted you."
Natalie held out her hand, counting. "Just ten million bucks, not much. Drop it off at my place in two days."
Claire saw Natalie was on board and smiled. "Deal."
Claire hadn't thought ten million would make Natalie cave.
Maybe, she overestimated her.
Natalie took a sip of her coffee, the café's music playing softly.
She didn't leave right away. Instead, she asked, "You said Adrian's wife can't be a maid. So, if Alice was one, could she still marry Adrian? Or is this rule just for me?"
