Chapter 911 Termination of Cooperation

Natalie was just fixing her makeup when the bombshell was dropped. She glanced at Heather, who looked shocked. No one saw this coming.

Bronte and Matthew had already dashed to the hospital.

The hospital was a madhouse.

Azalea's manager was also in surgery. Azalea, her manager, and the driver were on the road when they got slammed by an oncoming car. The crash was brutal, flipping both cars several times. All three were rushed to the hospital, and the red light outside the operating room was on.

Key members of the production team started showing up.

Two hours later, Azalea's manager was the first to be wheeled out, still out cold.

The manager's injuries were the least severe. Another half hour passed, and Azalea was wheeled out. She had fractures in both legs, but at least her life wasn't in danger.

The driver had it the worst, with head injuries, and was still unconscious.

About an hour later, Azalea woke up in agony. Her legs were in bad shape.

Bronte and Matthew went to see her. After they left the hospital, Bronte sighed. The big issue now was the production. The lead actress was down with broken legs, so filming was a no-go. But the show had to go on. The entertainment biz was tough; the crew of over 200 people costed a lot every day, plus the set rentals and builds. They couldn't afford to wait.

Matthew, being the producer and screenwriter, was in a tight spot.

News of Azalea's accident blew up online.

Comments were flooded with well-wishes for Azalea's recovery.

The next day, Matthew called a meeting with the producers and investors of "Yesterday's Mist" to talk about finding a new lead actress. They also reached out to Azalea's company to discuss ending her contract so she could focus on getting better. The production couldn't wait for her.

Matthew and Bronte also visited Azalea to comfort her.

Azalea got it, even though she was in pain and bummed about missing out. She weakly said, "I'll take care of myself and get better soon. I understand your decision."

Soon, "Yesterday's Mist" announced they were pausing their work with Azalea due to her injury and wished her a speedy recovery.

The sudden accident left the lead role open, stressing out the producers.

They spent all morning in meetings but couldn't nail down a new lead actress.

Azalea befitted the role with her look and acting chops. She wasn't super famous, but she fit the bill in many ways. Plus, the director had worked with her before, and she had agreed to a lower fee. The other actresses who had auditioned and were a good fit had already taken other gigs.

Matthew was a stickler for quality.

The investors couldn't just shove any actress into the role without his okay.

Natalie and Heather went shopping, and Heather picked up some local goodies. They were supposed to fly back today, but because of Azalea's accident, Heather went to the hospital in the morning to drop off some fruit and wish her well, so they pushed their flight to the next day.
