Chapter 553 Avery's Countermeasure
"Dinner?" Natalie asked.
"Huh?" Heather blinked, totally caught off guard. She hadn't had a bite all evening, been swamped.
Natalie grinned, "Me neither. Whipped up some spaghetti. Let's chow down together."
Heather nodded in agreement, "Sure thing."
In the Cullen family's study, Renee knocked and strolled in. "We can't find Frank anywhere. Sent folks all over. They say Frank owes Mr. King cash and is laying low. No one’s got a clue where he is."
Avery looked pissed. She shot a glare at Alice, silently cursing her stupidity. It had only been a few days since the drama, and Alice, out of pure jealousy, leaked the photos to frame Natalie.
Avery was beyond frustrated, wondering how she ended up with such a troublemaking daughter.
Before, because of Alice's mess, she had to beg Natalie for help and even agreed to one of Natalie's demands. Only then did Natalie post on Facebook, claiming to be friends with Alice, which finally calmed things down.
Alice, oblivious, asked, "Mom, why are you looking for Frank?"
Avery snapped, "Because of you!" She clutched her chest, feeling like she was about to have a heart attack. "Alice, can you please chill and focus on snagging Adrian instead of trying to humiliate Natalie? What’s Natalie got to do with you? I don’t get what good it does to frame her now. All it does is make some trolls curse her, which doesn’t help you at all!"
"Of course, it helps me. Watching her get trashed makes me feel better. You have no idea how bad I got cyberbullied recently!" Alice felt Avery was getting more and more spineless. "Mom, why are you so scared of Natalie? Her rep is already trashed; she’s too busy with her own mess."
Avery shook her head and told Renee, "Keep looking. We gotta find Frank!"
Renee said, "I’ve already got more people on it, but all we found was Mr. King, who said he hasn’t found Frank either and doesn’t know where he’s hiding. These small-time crooks, once they borrow from loan sharks, can vanish easily. It’s really tough to track them down. I even hit up a few of Frank’s buddies, but no one can reach him."
Alice still didn’t get it. "Mom, why are you looking for Frank?"
"You’re really dense!" Avery said, "Right now, Natalie’s caught up in the scandal of those explicit photos. But if she finds proof that the person in the photos isn’t her, who do you think they’ll blame? The guy’s side profile in the photos is Frank. If Natalie finds Frank, what then?"
Alice’s face went pale. She hadn’t thought it through.
When Diana told Alice about this, Alice just wanted to get back at Natalie and didn’t think much further.
Now Alice was freaking out. "Mom, what do we do?"
Avery sighed. Natalie had another piece of leverage over her. If Natalie released the video of her begging Natalie to make a statement to help Alice, it would be super embarrassing, and the public pressure on Alice would be even worse.
The only move now was to find Frank and figure out the next step.
Alice quickly pulled out her phone and called Frank, but no answer.
Alice’s face turned ashen. "Mom, what do we do? If Natalie finds Frank, I’m toast!"
"Now you’re scared, huh?" Avery said, "I told you to be smart and stay away from Natalie. It took me so much effort to get past your bad press!"
