Chapter 364 Evaluation
At 5 PM, in the principal's office at Vachilit Film Institute.
The visitors here were almost exclusively high-ranking school officials, with only a few students present. As the sun set, Kimberly stood at the doorway, feeling anxious.
She had used her family's connections. The Wood family had donated a library to the institute and had ongoing collaborations. This time, Ron brought her here. Victoria, a renowned veteran in the film industry, had her last film gross over $500 million. Now, she was prepping a new female-centric sci-fi blockbuster.
This film was sure to compete for various awards. Countless actresses were vying for the role, knowing it would make them famous. The lead role was for a young character, and Victoria had announced she wanted a newcomer.
Ron brought Kimberly here for that reason.
Inside, Ron adjusted his glasses. "Victoria, you know why I'm here. What do you think of Kimberly?"
Victoria raised an eyebrow. "I thought you'd catch up with me longer." Seeing Ron's awkward look, she sighed. "Ron, is this the best acting from the top drama student?"
Ron coughed, feeling exposed. Kimberly's acting was good but not the best. She had a decent appearance, but in the entertainment industry, there were many beautiful people.
Kimberly wasn't really suited to be an actress.
She was pretty but in a common way, lacking distinctiveness. Her features were flat, and filters in online videos could enhance her look.
Ron said, "She works hard. Despite her good family background, she's always been persistent."
Victoria shook her head. "I remember our teacher saying innate talent and appearance are crucial in acting, while effort and skills only account for 40%. I want a naturally talented and spirited face, not one needing surgical enhancements."
Ron didn't expect Victoria to notice Kimberly's cosmetic surgery so quickly.
Given the Wood family's collaboration with the institute, Ron said, "If she can't be the lead, can she at least be the second female lead or something else?"
Victoria's expression turned serious but gentle. "Ron, I accept your recommendation this time, but you know quality is paramount to me. My work must be flawless."
Ron nodded. "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. I've done my official task of introducing her. Now, let's discuss personal matters." He stood up. "How about dinner tonight?"
Victoria replied, "Of course."
Kimberly was anxiously waiting at the door when she heard footsteps behind her.
She quickly straightened up and walked a few steps forward, placing her hands on the railing.
Natalie walked over. Samuel had gone to get the car but left his phone, so she came to retrieve it. As Natalie reached the door, she saw the girl who had gone in with Ron still standing there.
Natalie paused, and their eyes met. She nodded politely.
Kimberly looked at her. Natalie was wearing a mask, covering half her face, but her eyes were exceptionally beautiful.
For some reason, Kimberly felt a surge of competitiveness.
Natalie knocked on the door.
Victoria's assistant opened it. "Ms. Teeger."
Natalie said, "Mr. Russell left his phone here. May I go in to get it, or could you bring it out for me?"
The assistant, who had been with Victoria for over ten years, smiled. "It's fine, you can go in."
Natalie walked in, and Kimberly, standing at the door, tiptoed to peek inside. She saw Ron and Victoria seated on the sofa. Puzzled by their discussion, she noticed the assistant glance her way as the door gently shut.
Kimberly realized her peeking was impolite and awkwardly stood still.
Victoria handed over a black-cased phone. "I was about to have my assistant deliver it to Samuel, but you came to get it."
"Thank you, Ms. Richardson." Natalie took the phone. "Mr. Russell went to get the car. I'll head over now. Goodbye."
Victoria nodded. After Natalie left, Victoria turned to Ron and said, "What do you think of that girl?"
