Chapter 433 Uncompromising
Natalie hit the set to reshoot a few scenes, then bounced back to the office.
Her gig in this drama was almost done.
Mindy hadn't shown up yet, so Natalie chilled in her lounge.
Her lounge had just gotten a facelift. Dynamic Entertainment Media had snagged three floors of the building. Backed by the substantial financial support of the Howard Group,, Dynamic Entertainment Media had already thrown cash at 30 dramas and 11 movies, mostly starring their own talent. The company had beenone of the top three powerhouses in the biz.
They also had seasoned agents like Mindy and Karen.
Artists signed with them never had to worry about gigs; at the very least, they could score some supporting roles and keep busy all year.
Since the lounge was freshly renovated, it was pretty bare and didn't even have a mini-fridge. Yvonne asked, "Natalie, you thirsty? I'll grab you some water."
Natalie nodded. "Sure."
Yvonne stepped out, and five minutes later, there was a knock on the door.
Thinking it was Yvonne, Natalie said, "Come in."
Yvonne was usually bubbly and easygoing. Natalie thought, 'Why's she being all formal today, knocking and stuff?' She was lounging in a yellow recliner, reading a book, with the window open and a gentle breeze coming in, when she heard the click-clack of high heels.
Sounded like a boss lady strutting her stuff.
Natalie smirked a bit. As she swiveled her recliner, she caught a whiff of strong rose perfume. She knew right away it wasn't Mindy but Karen.
Sure enough, when she turned around, there was Karen, standing three feet away in a black Prada trench coat.
Natalie didn't say a word; she just closed her book and stared at Karen, not bothering to get up, waiting for her to speak.
Karen said, "Natalie, got a minute? Can we chat?"
Natalie glanced at her watch. "You got 15 minutes."
Karen hadn't expected Natalie, who seemed so chill, to shut her down so smoothly. She smiled a bit, "15 minutes is kinda tight. There's a café downstairs; how about we..."
Natalie cut her off, "Mindy's gonna be here in 15."
Karen looked a bit thrown off, her expression shifting, not mad but kinda weird.
She quickly said, "Alright, 15 minutes it is."
If Mindy found out Karen was trying to poach Natalie, it would be super awkward since they'd both been at Dynamic Entertainment Media for over a decade.
Karen pulled a document from her bag and handed it to Natalie. "Even though you said no before, I put together a post-production plan for you. Check it out. Also, here's a promo plan to boost your followers on Facebook."
Natalie raised an eyebrow and took a look.
Karen had lined up several dramas for her, all based on popular original works, with big-name co-stars.
Karen grinned confidently. "Take these roles, lead the way, and you'll skyrocket. In three years, you'll be a superstar."
Natalie said, "You made this plan for Alice too, didn't you?"
Karen's face tightened for a sec. "That's not the point. It fits you better."
Karen admitted to herself that Natalie did remind her of Alice, but they were different. Alice had a bad temper but was easier to manage, while Natalie, despite her calm and sweet demeanor, was tough and knew what she wanted.
