Chapter 270 Rescuing Rosalie (1)

Avery couldn't believe it. "Curtis, you'd trust a servant's word over mine? Are you doubting me?"

Alice was shocked that a simple pendant could cause such a rift. "Dad, how can you suspect Mom just because of what Natalie said? You think Mom hid Rosalie?"

Avery was furious. Alice was useless!

Curtis looked stern. "So you did imprison Rosalie. Where is she? Avery, explain yourself now!"

Avery glared at Natalie, but she wasn't scared. Natalie smiled. "Avery, don't look at me like that. Release my mom, or your precious daughter will suffer. I have a recording," she said, picking up her cracked phone and playing the audio.

Alice's voice came through. "Don't forget your mother is still in me and my mom's hands. How dare you steal the pendant Adrian gave me! I'll make sure your mother dies in the hospital!"

Avery's face went pale. She glared at Alice, who looked down guiltily.

Natalie continued, "Don't think no one knows what you've done. You locked my mom up in Shoreview General Hospital, a mental institution, and threatened me with her life. If anything happens to her, this recording is evidence!"

Curtis was livid. "Avery, explain yourself! Release Rosalie now! What you're doing is illegal!"

Avery asked, "Curtis, is Rosalie all you care about? What about me?"

Curtis replied, "Avery, I'm doing this for you. This is illegal. Do you want to drag yourself and Alice down with you?"

Avery stepped back, glaring at Natalie, but she had no choice.

At Shoreview General Hospital, the bodyguards had already left.

Jerry saw them leave and got a message from Natalie. He rushed to Rosalie's ward, tears streaming down his face. "Rosalie."

Rosalie, now mentally stable but weak, was awake.

Jerry used to sneak glances at her while cleaning, but now he could finally see her.

"Jerry." Rosalie smiled. "Long time no see. How have you been?"

Jerry felt guilty, especially seeing her smile. Tears filled his eyes, and the sunlight streaming through the window highlighted his white hair. He trembled and knelt down before her.

"Rosalie, I'm so sorry. It's my fault!" he cried, tears rolled down his cheeks.

"Jerry," Rosalie said softly as she got out of bed and helped him up. "It's all in the past."

Her husband's death, her son's death—was it Jerry's fault? Yes and no. He was just a driver.

Was it Curtis's fault? He couldn't have predicted the accident.

For years, Rosalie couldn't find it in herself to blame anyone for that accident. Maybe it was fate.

Jerry, overwhelmed with guilt, said, "Rosalie, Natalie will be here soon to pick you up."

Hearing Natalie's name, Rosalie's eyes brightened.

Jerry knew Curtis and the others would arrive soon. He left and hid in the sixth-floor restroom. The Cullen family would pay for Rosalie's suffering!
