Chapter 1001 He Has Issues

Kathy swung the door open and there was Susan standing outside. "Mrs. Anderson, what a surprise!" she blurted out.

"Kathy, how've you been feeling? I brought you some health supplements," Susan said, handing over a tote bag.

"Mrs. Anderson, you're too kind! Thanks a bunch," Kathy said, grinning as she took the bag.

"You've been working so hard taking care of Isabella and Milo," Susan said with a smile as she stepped inside.

Noticing Susan glancing around, Kathy quickly added, "Mrs. Anderson, you've got to talk to Mrs. Johnson. She's been dieting like crazy and barely eating. She's been on the treadmill for half an hour already. She can't keep this up!"

Susan looked a bit taken aback. She set her things down and headed to the terrace.

Out on the terrace, Susan saw Isabella running on the treadmill, drenched in sweat and clearly exhausted.

Isabella spotted Susan, turned off the treadmill, grabbed a towel, and wiped her face and neck. "What brings you here today?" she asked.

"Seb's got a meeting, so I had some free time and thought I'd drop by. You don't need to push yourself so hard. The baby weight will come off eventually," Susan said, frowning.

"I'm too fat. If I don't lose it now, I never will," Isabella replied, then headed to the dining room with Susan for breakfast.

"Want some?" Isabella had just a slice of oatmeal bread, an egg, and a glass of milk in front of her.

"I've already eaten, and honestly, that wouldn't be enough for me," Susan said, eyeing Isabella's meager meal with a smile.

"Kathy, can you bring a glass of freshly squeezed juice?" Isabella called out.

Kathy soon brought the juice and set it in front of Susan. Sensing they wanted to chat, she left the room.

Watching Isabella scarf down such a tiny meal, Susan frowned. "You need to diet smartly, paying attention to nutrition and intensity. You're still breastfeeding Milo. Overdoing it isn't good for either of you!"

"I get it. I'll have some lean meat and carbs for lunch," Isabella said with a smile.

Then Susan asked, "So, how's it feel being the CEO's wife?"

Isabella's face fell.

"What? Not great?" Susan noticed the shift in Isabella's expression.

Isabella looked down, a bitter smile on her face. "If I could, I'd wish Leon could go back to being Seb's assistant."

"What's going on?" Susan asked, concerned.

Isabella looked up, hesitated, then said, "Susan, do you ever feel like this? I feel like he's in the spotlight too much, and I'm just... ordinary. I can't help him with anything. Plus, he's so busy now that he has no time for me and Milo. Do you think we'll drift apart? Will he fall for someone else once our feelings cool down? There are so many women around him now."

Isabella finally let all her worries spill out to Susan. She'd been bottling it up for days, and now that Susan was here, she felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders.

Susan listened and then gave her a reassuring smile. "I've had those same fears, believe me. And honestly, I can relate even more than you might think. At least you and Leon don't have family drama. Seb and I have been through the wringer."

Isabella knew all about Susan's struggles over the years. She reached out and squeezed Susan's hand. "I'm sorry. Compared to what you've been through, my problems seem so small."

"Isabella, we chose them, and they chose us. We've got to adapt to their lives, right?" Susan said with a smile.

"Yeah, you're right," Isabella nodded.

Then Susan suddenly asked, "Did you and Leon have a fight?"

"How did you know?" Isabella looked at Susan, surprised.

She and Leon had been giving each other the silent treatment for a week, but no one else knew.

"Did Kathy tell you?" Isabella asked, puzzled.

Kathy lived with her and might have guessed.

"Don't blame Kathy. I've never talked to her privately," Susan quickly clarified.

"I didn't mean it like that," Isabella realized she'd misspoken.

Susan explained, "Leon's been asking Seb to go out for drinks lately. Seb said Leon's been in a funk, so I figured it had something to do with you."

"Yeah, we did have a fight. We've been in a cold war recently," Isabella admitted, looking down.

"Leon just got back from Skyhaven, right? You should be getting along great. What happened? Cold wars are the worst; they mess with your health and your relationship," Susan said.

"I didn't want it to happen, but it did," Isabella said, then spilled the beans about Bronte.

After hearing the whole story, Susan frowned. "Bronte might be into Leon, but I doubt there's anything going on. Are you overthinking it? If something was up, it would've happened back at Prosperity Group."

"I think so too, but Bronte and Leon have known each other since they were kids, and now she's the VP at Johnson Corporation. Leon didn't tell me any of this. It feels off," Isabella said.

"He probably didn't want you to get the wrong idea," Susan suggested.

"You always defend him," Isabella finally cracked a smile.

Seeing Isabella smile, Susan felt the issue was on its way to being resolved.

"I trust Leon wouldn't cheat on you. But guys can't avoid interacting with women at work. They've got their own challenges. You need to cut him some slack!" Susan patted Isabella's hand.

Isabella shot Susan a look. "You're telling me to understand Leon? What about you? Now you're even Seb's secretary. I heard no young woman can get into the Prosperity Group's CEO office, only old and unattractive female execs!"

Susan blushed. "They're just talking nonsense!"

"Really? I bet the rumor's true!" Isabella teased with a grin.
