Chapter 649 Begging Bitterly

Rylee walked out of the Prosperity Group building in a daze, and Andrew hurriedly approached her. "Rylee!"

However, the two bodyguards in black suits behind Rylee immediately stepped forward, bypassing Rylee to block Andrew from getting closer to her.

Seeing these two tall and burly bodyguards, Andrew immediately understood what was going on and reverted to his usual approachable demeanor.

Rylee's red and swollen eyes looked at Andrew behind the two bodyguards, with tears still welling up in her eyes.

At this moment, Andrew looked at Rylee with pleading eyes and said, "Rylee, are you not coming home with me? Give me some time to talk, okay?"

Seeing this, Rylee softened and turned to the two bodyguards, saying, "You guys wait over there. I need to talk to him for a bit."

Hearing this, the two bodyguards obediently retreated a dozen feet away.

Only then did Rylee turn and walk a few steps to a nearby green area.

Seeing this, Andrew quickly followed.

"Rylee, let me explain..."

"Did you use me, Andrew?" she interrupted, her voice trembling with suppressed emotion. "Did you get involved with me because you needed money to go abroad? Did you always love Susan? Or were you two still together all along, planning to discard me once you'd climbed the ladder of success? And Susan, impatient, set her sights on Seb? Was this all some elaborate scheme you two cooked up?"

Rylee knew it was pointless to say these things to him, but after so many years of feelings, she still wanted to end it personally.

"No, no, it's not as complicated as you think!" Andrew gestured wildly in agitation.

"Andrew, I hope you can tell me the truth." As Rylee said this, she could no longer hold back her tears.

Andrew quickly stepped forward to hold Rylee's shoulders and urgently explained, "Rylee, it's not what you think. Yes, Susan and I did date before, but that was in the past. I love you now!"

Hearing this, Rylee glared at Andrew and shook off his hands from her shoulders. "If you two were so aboveboard, why didn't you ever tell me and Seb about your past? You say you love me, but why do you still keep the photo of Susan and the diary of your three years together? I may be naive, but I'm not stupid!"

"Rylee, yes, I admit I loved Susan. I wanted to go abroad, and I admit I saw being with you as a shortcut, a way to avoid years of struggle. I also felt it was a pity to break up with Susan. But after living with you for so many years, I've unknowingly fallen in love with you. You are now the one I love the most. Have you forgotten all the wonderful days we spent together? I didn't tell you about my past with Susan because it was long over. Bringing it up would only have caused unnecessary pain and awkwardness." His words tumbled out, a desperate attempt to salvage the situation.

Rylee, however, sneered, not believing a word he said.

Andrew continued to explain, "As for the idea that Susan and I have been plotting against you and Seb or the Anderson Family, that's nonsense. It's all in your imagination. Susan and I haven't had any contact over the years. When we returned to the country and I suddenly found out Susan had become your sister-in-law, I was shocked too. But that's just how coincidental it was. Rylee, you have to believe me. I may not be a saint, but I'm not a monster. And my love for you... that's real."

The next moment, Rylee lost her patience and took a step back, saying, "My mind is a mess right now. I need some time alone. I'll leave everything to Seb."

Seeing this, the two bodyguards quickly walked over.

"Rylee, no!" Andrew pleaded. "Seb doesn't understand us, doesn't understand our relationship. You can't leave your happiness in his hands!"

"I don't want to see you right now, Andrew." With that, Rylee turned and left.

Andrew wanted to follow, but one bodyguard blocked his way while the other opened the car door for Rylee.

Rylee got into the car, which slowly drove away, leaving Andrew helplessly watching it go.

Sitting in the back seat, Rylee looked at Andrew through the window and covered her mouth, crying.

The next day, Leon placed a document in front of Seb.

"What's this?" Seb looked at the document in front of him, hesitating to open it.

Leon replied expressionlessly, "The matter has been investigated. Nine years ago, Susan and Andrew were indeed a couple, and they dated for three years. They broke up six years ago, just before meeting you."

Hearing this, Seb, although mentally prepared, was still stunned for two seconds before resolutely reaching out to open the document in front of him.

It was comprehensive, detailing every aspect of their relationship: how they met, who pursued whom, the duration, the level of intimacy, the reasons for their separation, even their emotional states post-breakup.

Seeing this, Seb suddenly threw the document aside.

Seeing Seb's unpleasant expression, Leon frowned and said, "Mr. Anderson, this is just the information on Susan and Andrew's three-year relationship. If you want to know if they had any contact afterward and how they contacted each other, I need more time."

However, Seb waved his hand and said, "No need. This is enough."

Hearing Seb say this, Leon did not dare to say more.

"The instructions I gave you last night must be strictly followed. I know you're dating Isabella, but I don't want you to let personal matters affect your work. If you can't handle your current job, I can find someone else!" Seb said sternly to Leon.

"Mr. Anderson, you should know my professional ethics." Leon, of course, understood Seb's meaning.

"Good, you may go." Seb then waved his hand at Leon.
