Chapter 569 Photos

Andrew came back around noon. Since he had socialized late into the night yesterday, he decided to take a nap to catch up on sleep.

Just as he got up and stepped out of the bedroom, he overheard their conversations downstairs.

Apparently, even Carol had forgotten that Andrew was home, so he stood quietly at the top of the stairs, eavesdropping on the conversations below.

"Todd, what do you mean by that? We've been married for decades, don't you dare slander me!" Carol said with a stern face after hearing Todd's words.

"Carol, I'm not an idiot, and please don't treat me like one," Todd replied, looking at Carol.

At this point, Carol started to throw a tantrum, shouting, "Todd, what do you mean by that? I can't believe you're so shameless. If you want a divorce, fine, but there's no need to defame me!"

Seeing Carol's tough stance, Todd reached into his pocket and pulled out a stack of photos, then threw it onto the coffee table.

"Since you won't admit it, I have no choice," Todd said, his face darkening.

Carol suspiciously picked up the scattered photos on the coffee table. When she looked down, she was shocked!

"Where did you get these photos?" Carol's hand trembled, and the photos fell to the floor as her expression turned to regret and despair.

Seeing Carol's reaction, Todd felt a bit of pity but still spoke firmly, "Carol, I used to be a high-ranking official. Naturally, there were people who wanted to curry favor with me and reported these things."

"I knew there was no way to keep things hidden forever. But why did you wait all these years to bring out these photos? Were you waiting for this day to negotiate with me?" Carol asked, clutching her chest after a long pause.

Seeing Carol's face turn pale, Todd sighed and said, "When I first got these photos, I was angry, confused, and even thought about confronting the man in the photos. But after I calmed down, I realized that doing so would only embarrass my parents and children and harm my career. Of course, I was also selfish because I was at a critical point in my career, and my family couldn't afford any scandals. So I buried it. I never imagined I'd carry it with me for so long... that I'd almost forget about it."

"Forget? You'll never forget, will you? You're using this to threaten me now, aren't you? Todd, you're really cunning. Fine, I lose. I'll agree to the divorce, but you must promise me that you won't tell anyone about this, and you must destroy all the evidence you have. You know I'm not someone who gives up easily!" Carol glared at Todd with a sinister look.

Hearing Carol's wavering, Todd said, "As long as you agree to the divorce, I'll agree to any condition. I'll leave with nothing, and I'll hand over all the photos to you."

Upon hearing this, Carol laughed heartily.

Seeing her sudden laughter, Todd frowned.

After a while, Carol stopped laughing and stared at Todd, asking, "Todd, is that woman really worth it? Are you willing to give up everything for her?"

"Carol, we're at an age where we no longer have the drive we once had. It's time to let go of everything and find someone who... who fits. I hope you can be happy in the future," Todd said sincerely, looking at Carol.

Carol, however, gave a bitter smile and said, "Someone who fits? The person who fits me perfectly... he's long gone. And who's going to want me now? I'm old, undesirable... You're a cruel man, Todd. To discard me like this, after all these years... Even if our marriage wasn't perfect, I gave you children. Is this how you repay me?"

Seeing Carol cry, Todd stepped forward, wanting to reach out, but his hand stopped in mid-air and he didn't pat her trembling back.

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. You can hate me for the rest of your life," Todd finally squeezed out through clenched teeth after a long pause.

Hearing this, Carol looked up and glared at him, saying, "Not only will I hate you for the rest of my life, but I'll also curse you and that woman every day!"

"As long as it makes you feel better, you can do whatever you want," Todd said, then turned and slowly left the house with the cane.

After Todd left, Carol picked up all the photos from the coffee table and the floor, then took out a lighter and burned the photos in an ashtray.

A long time later, when all the photos had turned to ashes in the ashtray, Carol slowly stood up, held her head, and walked unsteadily into her bedroom.

After the bedroom door was closed, Andrew quietly walked downstairs.

He had heard everything Todd and Carol had said.

He hadn't expected Carol to have had such a relationship in her youth. No wonder Carol and Todd had always had a bad relationship; the root cause was here. No wonder Todd had an affair with Catherine.

At this moment, Andrew felt fortunate that although he had dated Susan for a long time back then, he had never agreed to meet Catherine. At that time, although he liked Susan, he was very dissatisfied with her family.

He had always wanted to find a wife who could help him in his career. Unexpectedly, he met Rylee by chance, and that silly girl fell in love with him at first sight. It didn't take much effort for him to become the son-in-law of the Anderson family.

Now it seemed like he had everything: a high position, luxury cars, a villa, and a beautiful wife. His life was perfect, except for Rylee's inability to have children. But he could handle that minor inconvenience.

Andrew walked to the coffee table and glanced at the ashes in the ashtray, frowning.

At that moment, sharp-eyed Andrew suddenly noticed something like a piece of paper under the coffee table.

He bent down and picked up it.

When he saw what was in his hand, Andrew's eyes lit up.

It was a photo of a young Carol intimately hugging a man.

Seeing this photo, Andrew was stunned!

This... this was a goldmine.

Then, a look of satisfaction flashed in his eyes. This little piece of information would prove very useful one day.

He put the photo in his pocket and hurriedly went upstairs.
