Chapter 574 Conspiracy

That morning, after breakfast, Seb took Susan to work.

Leon was driving, while Seb and Susan sat side by side in the back seat, chatting and laughing occasionally.

At that moment, Leon received a phone call.

After finishing the call, Leon reported to Seb, "Mr. Anderson, the secretary Ellie just called to say that your mother went to Prosperity Group early this morning and transferred five percent of her shares to Andrew. She also submitted to the board that Andrew will assume the position of Executive Director of Prosperity Group effective immediately."

Hearing this, Susan was shocked.

She turned her head and saw that Seb remained expressionless.

The next moment, Leon hesitated for a bit and said, "Mr. Anderson, recently Andrew has been closely interacting with several senior executives of the company, especially the heads of the finance and human resources departments. It's rumored that Andrew will be in charge of these departments next, causing some unrest among the staff."

Upon hearing this, Susan realized that Andrew was starting to vie for power with Seb. Now that he had Carol's trust, as long as Carol insisted, he would definitely become the Executive Director. The Executive Director has significant authority and can bypass Seb, the President, to directly submit opinions to the board on major issues. Susan was very worried for Seb.

At this moment, Seb curled his lips into a cold smile and said, "Mom is a very suspicious person. I didn't expect her to transfer five percent of her shares directly to Andrew this time. It seems she has been completely blinded by him."

"Mr. Anderson, Andrew is very ambitious. He's already opposing you in the company. We must be cautious!" Leon said worriedly.

Seeing Susan's worried expression, Seb reached out and patted her hand, comforting her, "Don't worry. I've been managing Prosperity Group for so many years, and he's only been here a few days. His little tricks are all within my grasp."

"But isn't the Executive Director very powerful? And you only hold five percent of the company's shares now. He holds the same amount as you. Does he want to replace you?" Susan asked worriedly.

At this moment, Seb hesitated for a bit and then smiled, saying, "Actually, this position has been weighing me down. I really want to live a relaxed and leisurely life with you and the kids. If Andrew truly has the capability, I wouldn't mind giving him the President's position. But he's reckless, driven by greed. I fear he'll run the company into the ground."

"What should we do then?" Susan asked worriedly.

Seb smiled and said, "Don't worry. He can't do anything to me yet."

"Okay." Susan could only nod.

That afternoon, Susan went to see Dorothy.

Since returning from Averlake, Dorothy was much more spirited and cheerful.

She had already started looking for a job, saying she wanted to work hard and live well, hoping that one day she would have enough ability to personally raise Amanda. This was her biggest goal in life.

Seeing Dorothy finally pulling herself together, Susan felt very relieved and invited her to work at her own office.

At first, Dorothy was reluctant, but when Susan assured her that she would be treated like any other employee, held to the same standards and expectations. Dorothy finally agreed.

Seeing Dorothy like this, Susan was truly relieved, hoping she could live well and have a good future.

After leaving Dorothy's house, Susan called a cab to meet a client in a distant place.

As soon as she got out of the cab and paid, Susan inadvertently glanced up and saw a budget hotel ahead.

Seeing that budget hotel, Susan couldn't help but frown.

Because this budget hotel was where Catherine and Todd had their rendezvous. Carol had brought them here to catch them in the act, and the scene from that day was still vivid in her mind.

Thinking about that day, Susan felt very embarrassed, so she shook her head and was about to turn around to go to the café where she had arranged to meet her client.

Unexpectedly, Susan's eyes caught a familiar figure walking into the café where she had arranged to meet her client.

Seeing Andrew here suddenly, Susan frowned.

Although she didn't want to see him, she had no reason to avoid him.

So, Susan also walked into the café and sat at a window seat.

This seat was in a corner, while Andrew and another person sat in a more spacious area. He had his back to her, so unless he turned around deliberately, he wouldn't see her.

At this moment, the client sent a text message saying they were stuck in traffic and would be ten minutes late, so Susan could only sit there and wait.

Although Susan didn't want to eavesdrop on Andrew and the other man talking, their low voices still reached her ears.

"Mr. Martin, I didn't expect you to join the board so quickly and become the Executive Director. Your future is limitless!" The man started by flattering Andrew.

Andrew seemed quite pleased with the flattery. "You were eager for me to come here personally. Just say what you need."

The man then smiled and said, "Mr. Martin, I'll be straightforward. I've been at Prosperity Group for many years, but I'm still stuck managing this budget hotel. Even my wife despises me for being incompetent and wants to divorce me."

"You want me to arrange a better position for you?" Andrew immediately saw through his intention.

"That's exactly it. I didn't dare to think about it before, but now that we're close, and you're the son-in-law of the chairman, there's nothing you can't do." The man continued to flatter.

At this moment, Andrew looked troubled. "Although I have some power now, I'm still new here..."

Before Andrew could finish, the man interrupted, "Mr. Martin, you can't burn bridges. I took a big risk to get you the key to Mr. Anderson's father's room with that woman..."

"Shut up!" Andrew snapped angrily, cutting him off.

The man quickly shut his mouth.

Andrew then warned him, "Never mention that again. I'll keep your request in mind and find an opportunity to get you a good position. Remember, don't contact me unless necessary!"

With that, Andrew got up to leave.

Hearing the man's vague words, Susan frowned and felt a pang of anxiety.
