Chapter 1113 A Happy Family
Seb glanced at his watch and frowned. "How about this: you go to the office first, work for three hours, then I'll go and work for three hours until the end of the day. Both of us can take the rest of the day off."
"Deal, but I need to take my wife and kids home first," Leon said as he helped Isabella up from her seat.
"As long as you don't take three hours to do it, it's fine," Seb said, spreading his hands.
Hearing that, Susan and Isabella both covered their mouths and laughed at this.
"I wouldn't be that unreasonable," Leon said with a smirk as he helped Isabella out of the café.
After Leon and Isabella left, Susan laughed. "I find you and Leon are quite amusing now."
"It doesn't matter what kind of people we are, as long as you and Isabella are happy," Seb said earnestly.
"But with Johnson Corporation and Prosperity Group merging, having Leon share some of the responsibilities with you is really great." After the merger of the two major groups, Seb and Leon had more time to spend with Susan and Isabella. The two families often went on weekend getaways together, which was incredibly relaxing.
"But Leon is always slacking off," Seb complained as he reached out to touch Susan's belly.
"What are you doing? This is a public place," Susan said, looking around.
Seb, however, kept his hand on Susan's belly. "I'm touching my wife; it's perfectly reasonable. Let's see who dares to interfere."
Susan laughed, "People who know I'm pregnant will understand you're touching your child. Those who don't might think you're being inappropriate in public!"
Susan was only two months pregnant, and her belly was still flat. But Seb insisted on touching her belly every day, claiming it was to start bonding with the baby early.
Hearing this, Seb smiled and continued to act shamelessly. "It's okay We're legally married."
"Aright, let's go home," Susan said, amused.
At this moment, Seb suddenly remembered something and said, "By the way, there's a charity ball tonight that I really can't get out of. I'll need you to accompany me."
Hearing this, Susan frowned. "I don't want to go to that kind of event. Why don't you find someone else?"
Seb frowned, clearly unhappy.
Sensing his displeasure, Susan quickly shook Seb's arm and said coquettishly, "Just find another date. I won't get jealous."
Hearing this, Seb stared at Susan for a few seconds and threatened. "This ball will probably last until midnight, and there will definitely be a lot of drinking. Are you really okay with me being with another woman?"
"I trust your self-control," Susan said, smiling at Seb.
"You have that much faith in me?" Seb's eyes locked onto Susan's.
Susan lifted her chin and said, "Of course I do. You have no feelings for any women except me."
"So my threats don't work on you anymore?" Seb seemed a bit down.
"Just find someone else to go with you. I'm pregnant and can't handle too much stress. If the ball lasts until midnight, how could I possibly endure it?" Susan said, playing the pity card.
In the end, Seb nodded and said, "Alright, if you really don't want to go, I won't force you."
"I knew you were the best!" Susan said, hugging Seb's arm with a smile.
"I won't go either. I'll call and cancel right now," Seb said, taking out his phone.
Hearing this, Susan frowned, "Didn't you say it was a charity ball that you couldn't get out of?"
Seb glanced at Susan and said, "There's no such thing as an unavoidable event. It's just about donating to children in impoverished areas. There will be plenty of big shots there tonight. One more or one less won't make a difference. We just won't donate this time!"
With that, Seb started dialing.
At this moment, Susan frowned and suddenly snatched the phone from Seb's hand. "Alright, I'll go with you!"
Hearing this, Seb's smile grew wider.
Seeing the smile on Seb's face, Susan said, "Are you playing me?"
Seb put his arm around Susan's shoulder and laughed. "You're kind-hearted and charitable. How could I dare to play you?"
Susan knew Seb was using this method to get her to accompany him to the charity ball. Although she didn't like such events, seeing how much he wanted her to go, she softened and agreed.
"Alright, I'll go with you, but you have to donate more!" Susan said, pointing at Seb.
"No problem. If you agree, I'll donate our entire fortune," Seb said with a smile.
"If you donate our entire fortune, what will the kids and I live?" Susan rolled her eyes at Seb.
Seb, however, was unusually cheerful. "We can always earn more money. You should trust my abilities."
"Forget it. I can't let my kids go hungry just because I trust you," Susan said with a smile.
Then, Seb and Susan left the café together.
In the afternoon, as the light gradually dimmed, the autumn wind felt a bit chilly.
Cecilia stood in front of the Fields Corporation building, with a suitcase by her side.
Cecilia didn't choose to go up and find Daryl because she knew that Daryl was now the CEO of Fields Group, not someone she could just meet on a whim. She could only stand there and wait.
As people left the Fields Corporation building after work, Cecilia still hadn't seen Daryl even after the rush hour had passed.
Cecilia frowned, thinking, 'Could it be that Daryl doesn't come today?'
At that moment, Cecilia saw a familiar tall figure step out of the Fields Corporation building.
Daryl was wearing a black suit, his face expressionless, followed by two men in matching suits. They walked while listening to his instructions, clearly showing him great respect.
Seeing him again, Cecilia felt a mix of emotions. After the initial sadness, she even felt a bit nervous.
However, Cecilia knew she couldn't regret it now. She touched her belly and mentally prepared herself.
For the sake of the baby in her belly, she had to face whatever lay ahead bravely.
At that moment, Daryl glanced around and suddenly saw Cecilia standing a few dozen feet away.
Daryl stopped in his tracks, wondering if he was hallucinating. 'How could she be in Maple Valley, especially right in front of the Fields Corporation building?'
At this moment, Cecilia looked up and locked eyes with Daryl. Their gazes met in the air!
