Chapter 967 Don't Touch Me

He quickly switched gears. "Or maybe I'll just pour him another glass of water."

Isabella couldn't help but chuckle at that.

Seeing her laugh, Leon grinned too.

Realizing she was smiling, Isabella quickly put on a serious face. "You hurt Alfonso, and it's a miracle he didn't press charges. Otherwise, you might've been deported."

"I got hurt too, you know. Why do you only care about his injuries and not mine? Aren't you being a bit unfair? I'm the father of your baby, right?" Leon grumbled.

Isabella rolled her eyes. "You had it coming!"

"Yeah, sure, I deserved it. How about I go turn myself in now? If I get deported, Alfonso won't get off easy either!" Leon said, starting to walk away.

"What are you doing?" Isabella called out, panicking as he really seemed to be leaving.

Leon stopped and turned back with a smile. "You can't stand the thought of me with a criminal record, can you?"

Isabella rolled her eyes again. "Don't think I don't get it. It doesn't matter if you have a record, but Alfonso's a lawyer. A record would ruin his career."

Leon grinned. "So I don't need to thank Alfonso for not calling the cops, right?"

Isabella realized she'd been played and rolled her eyes at him once more.

Just then, Kathy burst into the room with a thermos.

"Mr. Johnson, Ms. Brown, I made some chicken soup. Drink it while it's hot!" Kathy said, setting down the thermos and serving Isabella some soup.

"Kathy, thank you so much," Isabella said sincerely.

During her nearly six months in Northstar City, Kathy had taken great care of her. Even though it was at Susan's request, Kathy had been incredibly attentive, and Isabella was very grateful.

Isabella took a sip of the steaming chicken soup when Kathy suddenly exclaimed, "Mr. Johnson, your foot is bleeding!"

Isabella looked down and saw blood on the floor. Glancing at Leon's foot, she noticed the blood seemed to be coming from his shoe.

"What happened to your foot?" Isabella's heart tightened with worry.

Leon smiled nonchalantly. "It's nothing."

Kathy reacted first. "Mr. Johnson, did you step on the broken glass earlier?"

Isabella frowned, remembering she had broken a glass. It must have happened when he carried her to the hospital because of her belly pain, and he accidentally stepped on the broken glass.

Half the day had passed, and he felt no pain, too occupied with his concern for her.

Seeing the concern in Kathy and Isabella's eyes, Leon said, "Don't worry. It's just a small cut. I'll go find a doctor to patch it up."

With that, Leon turned and left the room.

Watching him go, Isabella suddenly felt a pang of sadness. His back looked so lonely, and he seemed to be limping.

Kathy chimed in, "Ms. Brown, Mr. Johnson really cares about you. He's been so busy looking after you that he didn't even notice his own injury. He even went back to the villa to check if I had finished making the soup. Where else can you find a guy like that? Don't stay mad at him; it's not good for the baby."

Isabella stared at the bowl of soup, her heart in turmoil. He really did care, but she couldn't understand how he could be so heartless as to kill their kid.

Noticing Isabella's silence, Kathy urged, "Ms. Brown, the soup's getting cold. Drink it while it's hot."

"Okay," Isabella nodded, lost in thought.

After three days in the hospital, Isabella was discharged.

Once home, Isabella had to stay in bed for a week, and Leon was also laid up in the next room, recovering from his foot injury.

During that week, even though she was bedridden, Isabella wasn't lonely. Leon would come over every hour, either to chat or bring her food. Though she found it annoying, she didn't dislike him as much as she did at first. There was no point in hating him; Leon simply wouldn't leave.

A week later, Leon took Isabella for a prenatal check-up. The doctor said the baby was very healthy, and she no longer needed to stay in bed.

That day, Leon insisted on accompanying Isabella for a walk outside, or he wouldn't let her go out.

In the end, Isabella reluctantly agreed to let him come along because she was going stir-crazy and really wanted to get some fresh air.

After half a month, Isabella's belly seemed to have grown more. She held her waist with one hand and her belly with the other, while Leon supported her as they walked slowly down the road.

Looking at her swollen belly, Leon smiled. "This baby is growing so fast. In just half a month, it seems like your belly has gotten bigger!"

As he spoke, Leon reached out to touch Isabella's belly.

But as soon as his hand touched her clothes, she quickly slapped it away.

Isabella rolled her eyes. "Don't touch me!"

Leon laughed. "I'm not touching you; I'm touching my baby."

"Wait until the baby is born, then you can touch it!" Isabella glared at him.

Leon had no choice but to look at her belly and say, "Baby, hurry up and be born and stand up for your daddy."

Seeing his playful expression, Isabella frowned. "You've been in Northstar City for half a month, right? Aren't you afraid Seb will fire you for taking such a long leave?"

"It doesn't matter. My wife and child are more important than work!" Leon's eyes were still fixed on her belly.

"Who is your wife? Watch your words," Isabella warned him.

Leon muttered, "In my heart, you are my wife."

"How can you..." Isabella was about to lose her temper but saw Leon still staring at her belly, which made her even more annoyed. "Can you stop staring at my belly?"

"I'm looking at my baby, okay? It's not like I haven't seen your belly before." Leon's eyes had a hint of mischief as he said the last sentence.
