Chapter 72 Conspiracy

In the blink of an eye, Susan was almost seven months pregnant. Her belly was getting bigger, and moving around was becoming more of a hassle.

She could now clearly feel the baby moving, and she had developed a deep bond with the little one inside her.

That morning, Kathy came upstairs to report, "Mrs. Susan Anderson, Mrs. Carol Anderson is here to see you!"

Hearing this, Susan frowned slightly.

Since the last time she met Carol in the central district, Carol had never appeared in her life again.

Although she didn't like Carol, Carol was still Seb's mother, so Susan put on her clothes and went downstairs.

When she arrived in the living room, Carol was already sitting upright on the sofa.

"Mom, you're here?" Susan greeted Carol with her head lowered.

Carol's eyes scrutinized Susan's belly for a long time before she softened her tone and said, "Sit down."

Susan sat down, feeling Carol's friendliness. At least now, Carol's eyes no longer held hostility and disgust towards her.

"I've been meaning to come see you, but I've been too busy and couldn't find the time. Now that I see you're doing well, I'm relieved. By the way, I bought a lot of things for the baby. How about letting Kathy go back to the central district with me to get them?" Carol suddenly changed the subject.

Hearing this, Susan glanced at Kathy, feeling a bit hesitant. After all, besides the security guard at the door, only Kathy was there to take care of her in the villa.

Seeing Susan's dilemma, Carol immediately said, "It's a four-hour drive to the central district. I'll make sure she gets back before dark tonight."

"You decide," Susan felt that it wouldn't be a big deal for Carol to take Kathy away for half a day, so she nodded in agreement.

"Then let's not waste any time. Kathy, come with me!" Carol stood up.

"Oh," Kathy, still in a daze, followed Carol nervously after hearing Carol calling her name.

Sure enough, as it was getting dark, Kathy was brought back.

Kathy indeed brought back a lot of baby items, all of which were imported goods Susan had never seen before. These items were worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Seeing these things, Susan touched her belly and said happily, "Baby, did you see that? Your grandma bought all these for you."

After looking through the items, Susan said, "Kathy, I'm hungry. Make me something to eat."

"Oh, I'll get right on it," Kathy responded and hurried to the kitchen.

Soon after, there was a loud crash from the kitchen, as if something had been broken.

Susan quickly walked over and saw Kathy squatting on the floor, picking up the pieces of a broken bowl.

"Kathy, how could you be so careless?" Susan had just finished speaking when Kathy accidentally cut her hand on a shard of porcelain.

"Oh no, you're bleeding. Go bandage it up. I'll make something to eat myself," Susan quickly pushed Kathy out of the kitchen.

Kathy looked at Susan, wanting to say something but ultimately remained silent. She turned and went to her room to tend to her wound.

A week later, Carol received a call from Cynthia.

"Carol, have you thought of a solution yet?"

Carol frowned and said, "Not yet."

After a moment's hesitation, the other end said, "Carol, you've been through so much. How can you not think of a solution for this small matter? Are you deliberately stalling me?"

This made Carol very annoyed. "Cynthia, I am your elder, and you will marry Seb in the future. Is this how you talk to me?"

Cynthia was still wary of Carol, so she immediately softened her tone and replied, "Carol, I'm sorry. I'm just anxious. I hope you understand my feelings. I really can't wait any longer."

"Things need to be done step by step. Rushing will only make things worse," Carol had her own plan and naturally wanted to calm Cynthia down, so she softened her attitude as well.

"Carol, do you have a plan or not?" Cynthia couldn't help but ask again.

"I visited Susan a few days ago and have a comprehensive plan, but it can only be implemented in two months," Carol said.

"Why two months? If you have a plan, let's implement it immediately!" Cynthia couldn't wait.

"Now Susan is carrying Seb's child, this is the child of our Anderson family. I must ensure she safely gives birth. I don't want to do anything that would harm my conscience," Carol said firmly.

"Carol, is this just an excuse?" Cynthia squinted her eyes.

"I promised you, and I won't go back on my word. If you don't trust me, there's no need to cooperate with me," Carol said domineeringly.

Cynthia knew that being anxious wouldn't help, so she thought for a moment and finally said, "Okay, I'll trust you. I'll wait for two more months, but when the time comes, don't give me any more excuses."

"I only ask one thing. Don't harm the child in Susan's belly. As for the rest, I don't care," Carol said.

"Deal!" Cynthia couldn't care less at this moment. She just wanted Susan to leave Seb as soon as possible. As for one more child from Seb, she could temporarily not care.

Two months later.

The winter in the mountains was exceptionally cold. The villa had the heating on, and the floor was covered with wool carpets, but Susan still felt cold, especially at night. Even with thick blankets, her hands and feet were still icy.

In the midst of a restless dream, Susan awoke thirsty, only to find the thermos empty. Reluctantly, she donned a robe and left the warmth of her bed.

Holding a cup, with the moonlight streaming in through the window, Susan wanted to go downstairs to the kitchen to get some hot water. In such cold weather, drinking cold water would make her feel even colder.

As she reached the top of the stairs, she suddenly heard voices downstairs. She stopped in her tracks, thinking, 'There are only Kathy and me in the villa. Who could Kathy be talking to? And it sounded like a man.'

"Mr. Anderson, you can sleep in the guest room upstairs. Mrs. Anderson won't find out," Kathy whispered.

There was only one bedroom downstairs, where Kathy was staying, so the only rooms left were the three upstairs.

"No need, I'll sleep in the car."

As soon as Seb's voice came through, Susan's heart tightened!

It was really Seb. When did he arrive? He wasn't here when she went to bed. Did he come while she was asleep? Thinking about the winding mountain roads, even during the day, let alone at night, Susan couldn't help but feel a bit scared!
