Chapter 548 He's Having a Great Time Outside

The New Year dawned under a cloud of tension and unease.

After returning home and settling the children, Susan leaned wearily against the headboard once they were all asleep.

She glanced at the wall clock; it was already past eleven at night. Outside, people were still setting off fireworks, and some were still walking around.

But her bedroom was cold and empty. It was New Year's, and Seb still hadn't come back.

Susan reached for her phone, her fingers hovering over his name. She longed to hear his voice, to know he was okay. But what if he was with Carol?

Carol might be overbearing and impossible to please, but tonight, she was the wronged party. The image of her haughty facade crumbling under the weight of betrayal filled Susan with a strange mix of pity and guilt.

Midnight came and went, but Seb didn't. She couldn't hold on any longer and closed her eyes.

When she woke up, it was already daylight outside.

She looked at the wall clock; it was almost eight in the morning.

Susan quickly got out of bed, opened the door, and ran downstairs.

But downstairs, only Kathy was making breakfast. The kids, who had gone to bed late, were still asleep, and Mary was cleaning.

After looking around, Susan confirmed that Seb still hadn't come back.

Kathy walked over and tentatively asked, "Mrs. Anderson, what happened yesterday? Why didn't Mr. Seb Anderson come back all night, and why hasn't Mr. Todd Anderson come out of his room?"

Yesterday, Kathy and Mary had stayed in the car with the kids and hadn't gone up to the hotel, so they didn't know what had happened. But they understood that something big must have occurred.

Susan sighed. How could she possibly explain the events of the previous day? "It's a long story, Kathy," she said, her voice weary. "Let's just say the family isn't very harmonious right now."

"Oh," Kathy nodded.

Susan glanced at Todd's tightly closed bedroom door, hesitated, and then instructed, "Send breakfast to Mr. Anderson when it's ready."

Todd was a proud man. After what had happened, he probably didn't want to face the kids.

"Okay," Kathy quickly nodded.

After looking around, Susan went upstairs, feeling listless.

She stared at her phone for a long time before finally mustering the courage to call Seb.

After what had happened, Susan really didn't know how to face him.

The phone rang several times, but no one answered. Susan frowned and called again, but still, no one picked up.

Susan knew he might not want to see her, which was why he wasn't answering.

Susan felt extremely conflicted, and the air seemed particularly oppressive today, making it hard for her to breathe.

After thinking for a moment, Susan, still worried about Seb, decided to call Leon.

The phone rang twice before Leon answered.

"Leon? It's Susan," she said urgently as soon as the call connected.

"Mrs. Anderson, what can I do for you?" Leon's end sounded a bit chaotic.

Susan quickly asked, "Is Seb with you? I want to know where he is and how he's feeling."

Leon hesitated before saying, "I'm with Mr. Anderson at a social event. He is in good spirits, so don't worry."

Hearing this, Susan asked, "That's good. Did he say when he'll be home?"

Knowing he was at a social event, Susan felt relieved.

Every year, the day after New Year's, he would visit respected figures in Maple Valley's political and business circles. The fact that he was following this routine indicated that his mood was relatively stable.

"Mr. Anderson hasn't mentioned that yet," Leon stammered.

Susan knew Leon was in a difficult position. Although she was unhappy, she forced a smile and said, "I won't keep you then. You guys carry on."

"Okay," Leon said before hanging up.

Seb didn't come home on the night of January 2nd.

Seb didn't come home on the night of January 3rd either.

On the night of January 4th, Susan couldn't help but call Seb again, even though he hadn't answered her calls for days.

After several rings, Seb finally picked up.

Hearing the call connect, Susan was overjoyed. "Seb?"

The next moment, Susan heard a lot of noise on the other end—singing, men and women talking. She frowned, feeling a sudden sense of unease. He must be in a bad place.

"Where are you?" Susan asked anxiously.

After a few seconds, Seb's cold, drunken voice came through. "I'm having a great time out here. I'm not coming back!"

While he spoke, Susan could clearly hear a woman laughing beside him.

The sound pierced her heart!

"Seb? Hello, hello?" Susan was about to say something, but Seb had already hung up.

At that moment, Susan felt a chill all over her body.

Although she knew he was still angry with her, she hadn't expected him to go to such places and flirt with other women.

Susan was initially very sad, but then she became angry. Although she was at fault, she couldn't tolerate being treated this way.

She quickly dialed Leon's number.

"Leon, tell me, where is he now?" Susan asked urgently as soon as Leon answered.

Hearing Susan's question, Leon hesitated. "Mrs. Anderson, I'll persuade Mr. Anderson to come back later. I..."

"Please tell me where he is, Leon. I don't want him to make a mistake that he can't undo. Do you understand?" Susan said firmly.

After a moment's consideration, Leon replied, "Mr. Anderson is at Golden Nightclub. Do you want me to come get you?"

Leon knew Susan would definitely go to find Seb.

"No need, I'll take a cab!" Susan hung up the phone immediately.

Golden Nightclub? He actually went to that place.

Everyone in Maple Valley knew that Golden Nightclub was the most upscale entertainment club in the city. Non-members couldn't get in, and it was said that the hostesses there were all young and beautiful, with at least a bachelor's degree. Some were even college students. Many wealthy individuals go there to seek pleasure.

He was really bold. Susan felt very sad but even more furious.

Susan grabbed a coat and was about to leave but then thought better of it and turned back.

She walked to the wardrobe, opened it, and scanned the clothes hanging inside.
