Chapter 1206 Take Care
Cecilia felt Barry's body pressing against her back, which made her extremely uncomfortable, so she quickly squirmed to get away from him.
But this time he was unusually persistent, wrapping his arms around her waist and not letting go.
She couldn't help but frown, feeling a bit flustered. After all, he rarely acted this way towards her. He had always respected her, and their intimate moments were few and far between, and even then, they were always moderate.
"Barry..." Cecilia called out softly.
Daryl was still standing behind the curtain. If he saw this, he would be angry.
But Barry interrupted her, bringing his lips close to her ear and whispering affectionately, "Cecilia, we've been together for a long time. We can't always stay the same, can we?"
Her body stiffened even more. "You promised me we would take it slow."
"But I feel like I can't spoil you too much, or you'll get used to it," he said with a smile, his deep eyes filled with endless love and passion.
Hearing his voice filled with desire, Cecilia's heart raced wildly.
What was he planning to do? How did it come to this?
She really wanted to cry.
However, she knew she had to get Barry to leave quickly, or things would get out of hand. She knew Daryl's temper too well.
She quickly explained, "Barry, I'm not feeling well today. I want to rest early."
He frowned slightly, then released his hold on her waist and asked softly, "What's wrong? You've looked unwell these past few days. Is something bothering you?"
"What could be bothering me? Maybe it's just work stress. Didn't you say you would take me to the countryside this weekend to relax? I'm really looking forward to it," she quickly replied.
He smiled and said, "The countryside air is great, and this season is perfect for seeing the fall foliage. I'll paint an oil portrait of you then."
"Sounds good," she quickly nodded.
"The water's boiling," she said, then quickly picked up the kettle to make a cup of coffee.
The kitchen was small and cramped, so Cecilia quickly carried the cup of coffee out of the kitchen. When she reached the living room, she glanced towards the bedroom and, seeing that it was quiet behind the curtain, she felt relieved.
Soon after, Cecilia sat on a small stool to put some distance between herself and Barry.
He sat on the sofa, sipping his coffee slowly, while she felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.
He looked around the room, then gazed at her before standing up and saying, "It's late. You should rest early. I'll be going now."
Hearing that Barry was finally leaving, Cecilia quickly stood up. "Be careful on your way home."
Barry, who had reached the door, turned to look at Cecilia, his expression somewhat complicated.
She didn't dare meet his gaze and quickly lowered her head.
His lips twitched slightly, then he turned and left.
"Take care!" Cecilia called out, then closed the door.
Finally, it was over. Cecilia placed a hand on her chest.
Then she quickly turned and walked towards the bedroom.
When she reached the curtain, she saw that it was still and thought to herself, this time, Daryl was quite obedient.
"Come out, Barry's gone," Cecilia said.
But there was no movement behind the curtain.
Seeing this, she frowned and stepped forward to pull the curtain open.
Behind the curtain, there was nothing but the wall. She was shocked!
Where was Daryl? Where had he gone?
She turned and looked around, but the room was already empty.
Could it be that while she and Barry were in the kitchen, Daryl had quietly left?
Impossible. The kitchen had a view of the front door. Daryl couldn't have left through the door.
Cecilia suddenly noticed that the window was ajar.
It was already late autumn, and the window had always been closed.
Cecilia walked over, opened the window, and looked down. She felt a bit dizzy. Daryl must have left through the window.
This was the fourth floor. It was so high up. How did he get down?
She felt a wave of worry, afraid that Daryl might have hurt himself.
The phone on the bed suddenly rang.
Cecilia walked over, picked up the phone, and saw Daryl's number flashing on the screen.
She quickly answered.
"Cecilia, don't look for me. I left a while ago," his voice came through as soon as the call connected.
"Did you leave through the window? How did you get down from such a height? Are you hurt..." Cecilia asked anxiously.
Halfway through her question, she found herself at a loss for words because she realized how anxious and worried she sounded. She didn't want Daryl to know how much she cared about him, as that would only complicate things further.
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
Two seconds later, Daryl chuckled softly, "Don't worry, I'm fine. You forgot, I'm a rock climbing enthusiast. Four floors are nothing; I could get down from ten floors without a scratch."
She finally let out a sigh of relief.
"Why did you leave?" Cecilia asked foolishly.
Daryl smiled bitterly, "Do you even need to ask? I didn't want to see the woman I love being affectionate with someone else."
She felt a pang in her heart, not knowing what to say.
Then Daryl said in a light, breezy tone, "Alright, I've thought it through and understand your situation. I respect your decision. I wish you and Barry all the best!"
She didn't know what to say, feeling a lump in her throat.
Wasn't this the outcome she had hoped for? So why did she feel so lost after hearing Daryl's words?
Then Cecilia said with difficulty, "Daryl, thank you for understanding. I don't know what to say."
"You don't need to say anything. Just be happy and take care of yourself. If you ever need anything, you can always come to me," Daryl said.
"Okay. You take care too, and look after yourself," Cecilia said, tears welling up in her eyes. She covered her mouth with her hand, afraid she might start crying out loud.
"I'm a man; I can take care of myself. I'm just worried about you. Barry better treats you well, or I'll beat him up!" Daryl said, trying to sound light and playful.
"Take care!" Cecilia choked out.
"Take care!" Daryl's voice also changed.
