Chapter 68 Are You Using My Child Against Me?

That night, Kathy indeed showed up at the villa on time with Susan's daily necessities.

Kathy cooked dinner, but Susan was too mad to eat.

After a restless night, dawn finally broke.

Susan stood by the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor, looking out over the courtyard.

It was way colder in the mountains than in the city, a robe draped over her shoulders. The morning light was beautiful and peaceful, yet she couldn't appreciate it.

The villa was super luxurious, even the water glasses were imported crystal. The floors were covered with wool rugs. Even though it was midsummer in Maple Valley, it was damp and cold up here. Susan had to use thick blankets at night to stay warm.

Seb had really found a fancy cage to lock her in. Besides feeling lonely and isolated, Susan was also a bit scared. Pissing off Seb was dangerous.

Her phone had been smashed by Seb, so she couldn't reach her family or friends. They must be worried sick. The villa's phone was locked by Seb and could only call Seb and Leon; no other numbers worked.

After thinking all night, Susan couldn't come up with a good plan. She just kept calling Seb, bombarding him with calls.

"Seb, let me out right now, do you hear me?"

"Seb, I don't want to stay here. Send someone to take me back to Maple Valley immediately!"

"Seb, you bastard, you can't keep me locked up!"

But every time she said these things, Seb didn't respond. She felt like he wasn't even listening.

When she got tired of yelling into the phone, Seb would finally speak in a calm voice, "The mountain air is nice, perfect for you to relax and recuperate. Consider what you just said as your lung exercise for the day!"

"Seb, you'll die a horrible death!" she'd scream, but Seb always hung up just in time, so he never heard her curse.

In the end, Susan angrily smashed the only phone in the villa.

After two days of silence, Susan finally thought of a way to fight back: she decided to go on a hunger strike.

Seb might not care about her, but he couldn't ignore the baby in her belly.

So for an entire day, Susan didn't eat or drink anything. Her stomach protested, but she endured it. She couldn't be locked up like a bird. Plus, Catherine and Dorothy might have even considered calling the police since they couldn't find her.

In the evening, Kathy brought food to Susan's bedside and pleaded, "Mrs. Anderson, please eat something. The baby in your belly can't take this."

Susan ignored her. This was probably the umpteenth time Kathy had begged her to eat.

Actually, Susan was almost at her limit. She had already felt the baby's movements in the past few days.

So, Susan didn't dare to look at the food Kathy brought, fearing she might give in.

Seeing that Susan was unmoved, Kathy said with a sobbing tone, "Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Anderson will definitely blame me if he finds out. If anything happens to you, how can I explain it to him?"

Hearing this, Susan almost fainted.

So Kathy hadn't told Seb that Susan hadn't eaten for a day. What if Seb found out too late and she starved?

Susan looked at the dark sky outside. How was she going to get through this long night on an empty stomach?

If she had known it would be this hard, she would have hidden some food in the room beforehand, so she could sneak a bite at night and not suffer so much.

Susan touched her belly and comforted the baby inside, "Baby, you have to hold on! It's my fault for being so foolish and not using some strategy."

Susan resisted the temptation, and Kathy finally left the room with the food. Susan could only look at the endless darkness outside and sigh.

At nine o'clock, when Susan's stomach was growling with hunger, she suddenly heard heavy footsteps outside, and then the door was kicked open!

Susan was startled. She looked up and saw Seb, with a dark expression, striding in.

"Are you using my child against me?" he threw out the first sentence as he walked to the bedside.

Susan didn't expect him to come so quickly. She thought Kathy would tell Seb about her hunger strike tonight, and he would come tomorrow.

"I want to go back to Maple Valley!" Susan said calmly, looking up at Seb.

"Absolutely not," Seb said firmly.

Seeing his resolute attitude, Susan turned her face away and said, "Then watch your child starve to death."

Susan couldn't bear for anything to happen to the baby in her belly, but now the baby was her only bargaining chip.

'Baby, don't blame me for using you to threaten Seb. I really have no other choice,' she thought to herself.

Seb, who didn't tolerate threats, was further provoked by this statement, pointing directly at Susan and threatening, "Susan, let me tell you clearly, if anything happens to my child, your family will pay for it with their lives!"

Seb's eyes were as cold as ice, making Susan break out in a cold sweat. She was so scared by his words that she didn't recover for a long time.

"Don't you dare do anything crazy!" Susan's voice trembled.

Seb could indeed be terrifying when he went crazy, and he had the power in Maple Valley to back it up. Susan couldn't risk Catherine and Dorothy's safety.

"If you don't want me to do anything crazy, then eat on time," Seb said firmly.

At that moment, Susan knew she couldn't go against him. Seb wouldn't fall for her tricks, and she really didn't have the leverage to fight him head-on.

A wise person didn't fight when the odds were against them. So, the next moment, Susan softened her tone. "Seb, I've been here for several days. My mom, Dorothy, and Isabella would be worried sick if they couldn't find me, you know? If they end up calling the police in a panic, you're going to be in trouble."

"Don't worry. I went to your mom's house yesterday. I told them your pregnancy was unstable, and I took you to a sanatorium out of town. You need to rest and shouldn't be disturbed. I told them to contact you in a few days. I also left them enough money for living expenses. By the way, Dorothy is about to start college, and I left her tuition money too. As for your good friend Isabella, I had Ellie tell her the same reason. Do you have any other friends or family you need to notify? I can have Ellie take care of it. You just need to stay here and take care of the baby until it's safely born!" Seb's eyes were fixed on Susan as he said a lot in one breath.
