Chapter 381 You and the Kids Must Stay by My Side
"There ain't gonna be a day like that. No way I'm giving you that chance. You and the kids gotta stay with me," Seb said, grabbing Susan's wrist and pulling her back into his arms.
For a sec, Susan felt all warm and fuzzy, leaning into his hug, but she kept her cool. "Seb, promise me, if you ever stop loving me, don't lie. Just tell me straight up, and I won't hang on."
Susan's voice was already cracking with emotion.
"That day ain't ever coming!" Seb pushed her shoulders back, said it like he meant it, and then went in for a kiss.
Susan looked at Seb, totally buying his words, and tears started to well up.
She thought this kiss would lead to the usual, ending up in bed.
But Seb pulled back from the kiss and then started dragging her outside.
"Where we headed?" Susan, still dizzy from the kiss, had no choice but to follow.
Seb led her into the study, walked over to the desk, and fired up the computer.
"Why'd you bring me here?" Susan looked at the computer, then back at Seb, all confused.
Seb grinned, sat at the desk, and opened a webpage once the computer booted up.
"Stocks?" Susan said, looking at the screen.
Seb looked up at her and said, "From now on, you don't need to run your online store. I'm gonna teach you how to trade stocks."
"Trade stocks?" Susan's eyes went wide.
"Yep," Seb nodded. "It won't mess with your work or drain your energy. Plus, the money comes in quick. If things go well, you could have your own place soon."
"But how much cash do I need? I don't have much," Susan said, worried.
Seb was about to say something.
Susan cut him off, "Don't say you'll lend it to me. How's that any different from you trading stocks yourself?"
Seb smiled, then got up and walked to the safe. After punching in the code, he opened it and pulled out a blue velvet box, handing it to Susan.
Looking down at the box, Susan frowned and asked, "What's this?"
"Why don't you take a peek?" Seb said.
Curious, Susan took the box from him. When she opened it, there was a dazzling brooch inside.
Seeing the brooch, Susan's eyes lit up. "Isn't this the royal family brooch?"
Seb had dropped millions on this brooch for her, but when they split, she gave it back.
"I gave you this brooch back then, but you didn't take it when you left. Since I gave it to you, there's no reason to take it back. So now you can pawn it. It should be worth about a million bucks, which can be your capital for stock trading," Seb said.
"But," Susan still had doubts.
Seb cut her off, "You can buy it back after you make some money."
Susan knew there was no other way, and this didn't mess with her principles, so she held the brooch tight and said, "I'll definitely buy it back in the future."
Seb nodded, then got all serious, "Look, only a few folks actually make money trading stocks. A lot of people lose everything, so I gotta be tough on you. First, learn the basics, then I'll show you some secret tricks, and finally, we'll practice. Only then can you trade for real."
"I'll study hard," Susan nodded like her life depended on it.
From that day on, after dinner, Seb would give Susan lessons in the study.
A week later, Susan had nailed all the basics.
Another week later, Seb had her practicing, and soon enough, Susan was hooked on stocks, almost obsessed.
It was past eleven that night, and Susan was still propped up against the headboard with her laptop, deep into a stock analysis.
The bedroom was lit by a single wall lamp, casting a dim glow.
Seb came out of the bathroom in a bathrobe, saw Susan all engrossed, and a mischievous grin spread across his face.
He wrapped a strong arm around her waist, but Susan didn't even flinch.
She just pushed him away. "Quit messing around!"
"It's late, time to sleep," Seb's husky voice whispered in her ear.
Susan was too into her stocks to care. Without even looking at him, she said, "You go to sleep first."
"It's the weekend. We agreed to, you know, have some fun tonight," Seb's voice had a mix of whining and pleading.
It had been a week. From Monday to Friday, Susan didn't let him touch her because she was swamped with work and stock studies, leaving her wiped out. Seb could see she was exhausted, so he had been holding back.
"I said we'd have fun on the weekend. That means Friday or Saturday, got it?" Susan smiled, glancing at him.
But Seb frowned, grabbed her laptop, tossed it on the nightstand, pulled her into his arms, and said, "My interpretation is we have fun on Friday and again on Saturday."
"The right to interpret is mine, okay?" Susan shot back.
Seb didn't care. He leaned in, kissed her cheek hard, and said, "You're mine, so your right to interpret is mine too."
"Get away." Before Susan could finish, Seb had already pinned her down.
At that moment, Seb looked down at her and said, "Over the years, I've figured out a bunch of stock trading methods. Once I teach you, you'll be unstoppable!"
Hearing this, Susan's eyes widened. "Really?"
Actually, Susan admired Seb deep down. His smarts, talent, and charisma made him the most impressive guy she'd ever met. So she admired him a lot but never said it out loud to avoid him showing off in front of her.
"You've seen my stock account. In the past year, I've made a 128% profit, while the S&P 500 has dropped 16%," Seb answered smugly.
Indeed, Susan had always been amazed at how he did it. Plus, Seb spent most of his time working, with very little time for trading stocks. It was said that he only traded occasionally.
