Chapter 797 He's Still Very Worried About You
That afternoon, snowflakes started falling, turning everything outside into a winter wonderland.
Susan was curled up by the big window, sipping on a hot cup of coffee. Hayden and Spring were at school, leaving the house eerily quiet.
She watched the snowflakes twirl in the air, her face etched with worry.
It had been days, and he still hadn't come back.
Sure, she was a bit pissed, but she was also worried.
Susan knew her concern came from loving him. He had plenty of friends in Northstar City who'd take him in. Worst case, he could crash at a hotel. He wouldn't starve or freeze.
Outside, in the freezing weather, Mary was worried Kathy might slip, so she went grocery shopping with a basket, leaving just Susan and Kathy at home.
Noticing Susan staring out the window for ages, Kathy walked over with a smile, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson hasn't been back for days. Why not give him a call?"
Susan got what Kathy was hinting at.
She was suggesting Susan should be the bigger person and call Seb to come back.
But Susan was still mad. Thinking about how he had smashed plates that day made her blood boil. Plus, he hadn't checked on her, Hayden, or Spring for days. How could he be so heartless? No way was she going to be the one to make the first move.
So, she said coolly, "He's a grown man. He can take care of himself."
"But..." Kathy started to say.
Susan cut her off, "Besides, this is his home. He can come back whenever he wants. Do I have to roll out the red carpet for him?"
Kathy stood there for a moment before saying, "Ms. Wilson, it seems Mr. Anderson loves you more than you love him."
"What are you getting at?" Susan looked at Kathy, puzzled.
Kathy hesitated, then said, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson has been secretly calling me these past few days, asking about you, Hayden, and Spring. He's still very worried about you all. But he's a guy, after all. He needs an excuse to save face."
Susan was taken aback.
She didn't expect him to call. 'So what? Just come back and apologize, and that's it. Why make it so complicated?' she thought.
Still, she felt a bit better and less angry.
Seeing Susan lower her head without responding, Kathy said, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson is very concerned about his pride. He told me not to say anything, so please don't tell him I told you."
"Don't worry, I'll act like I didn't hear a thing." Susan grabbed a magazine and pretended to read.
In reality, she couldn't focus on the magazine at all.
"Ms. Wilson, are you really not going to call him?" Kathy asked, seeing Susan just holding the magazine.
Without looking up, Susan said, "If he wants to come back, he can come back on his own. If not, he can stay out and play. I'm not going to call and beg him to come back."
Hearing this, Kathy had no choice but to leave, looking a bit down.
Watching Kathy walk away, Susan furrowed her brows.
She was torn. She really wanted to call him. She missed him a lot these past few days.
But Susan thought that if she called him, he'd just get all smug about it. This time, he needed to learn a lesson for smashing those plates.
Just then, the phone in the living room rang.
Kathy quickly ran to answer it.
"Mr. Anderson?" Kathy said into the phone.
Hearing Kathy's words, Susan looked up. 'Isn't he supposed to call secretly every time?' she thought.
Kathy's expression turned serious. After listening to Seb for a bit, she nodded and said "yes," then hung up.
After hanging up, Kathy seemed flustered, unsure whether to go to her bedroom or the study, momentarily losing her cool.
Seeing this, Susan frowned and asked, "Kathy, what's going on?"
Kathy quickly ran to Susan and said urgently, "Ms. Wilson, something's wrong! Mr. Anderson said his stomach condition has flared up, and he's in a lot of pain. He asked me to bring his usual stomach medicine to him quickly."
Hearing this, Susan immediately stood up, panicking.
Seb often had stomach issues because of his crazy work schedule and irregular meals. He always carried stomach medicine with him.
If his stomach condition really flared up, the pain could be severe, sometimes even keeping him bedridden.
Thinking of this, Susan became even more anxious and ran upstairs, saying, "The stomach medicine is in the bedroom. I'll get it!"
Susan ran upstairs, found the stomach medicine in the bedside table, and quickly ran back downstairs.
By this time, Kathy had already put on her coat, waiting for Susan to bring the medicine down.
Seeing Susan come down with the medicine, Kathy quickly approached and said, "Ms. Wilson, give me the medicine. I'll take it to Mr. Anderson right away."
"Where are you taking it?" Susan handed the medicine bottle to Kathy.
Kathy replied, "Mr. Anderson is at a friend's farm in the suburbs. It's a half-hour drive. I'll take a cab."
With that, Kathy started to leave.
Susan frowned and quickly followed. "Kathy, let me go instead. It's icy and snowy outside, and you're getting older. I don't want you to slip and fall."
"No need. I may be older, but I can still manage," Kathy declined.
At this point, Susan was extremely anxious. She said that just to make excuse. Seeing Kathy refuse, she couldn't hold back any longer.
"I'll go. You still need to help pick up Hayden and Spring later!" Susan stepped forward, grabbed the medicine bottle from Kathy, and turned to put on her coat.
Seeing this, Kathy didn't refuse. She was actually happy to see Susan worried Seb.
Susan quickly put on her coat, grabbed her wallet, and ran out of the villa.
She hailed a cab and headed straight to the farm in the suburbs.
Due to the heavy snowfall, the roads were a mess.
Nearly an hour later, Susan finally arrived at the address Kathy had given her.
It was an impressive farm with a imposing entrance. Inside the wrought-iron gates was a three-story villa, and the courtyard had a fountain, all covered in snow.
After paying the fare, Susan, wearing a black cashmere coat, stood at the farm's entrance.
Snowflakes fell on her head. In her rush to leave, Susan hadn't worn a hat or gloves, and her nose was red from the cold, her hands tucked inside her sleeves.
The farm was already in a remote area, and with the heavy snow, there were no people around.
