Chapter 65 Why Haven't You Divorced Me Yet
"I said Henry's better than you, a hundred times better! Is that clear enough?" Susan screamed at Seb, her anger making her lose control.
Seb's veins bulged, his gaze growing colder. Susan panted heavily, feeling a twisted sense of revenge, but Seb's icy stare filled her with fear.
Seb's grip tightened on Susan's shoulder, causing her face to contort in pain. She stubbornly furrowed her brow, refusing to cry out or show any weakness.
"Do you even realize you're pregnant? You're carrying a child and still messing around with other men. Do you deserve to be a wife, a mother? Don't you know you have a husband?" Seb roared.
Susan felt dizzy from the violent shaking, her shoulder blades aching. Instinctively, she protected her belly with her hands, feeling a slight pain in her lower abdomen.
Just then, Kathy walked in and saw the scene. "Mr. Anderson, what are you doing? Mrs. Anderson is pregnant! She can't handle this!"
Kathy's arrival snapped Seb out of his rage. He let go, and Susan collapsed onto the sofa.
"Mrs. Anderson, are you alright?" Kathy asked, rushing to help her up.
Seeing Susan's pale face, Seb looked regretful and dejected, pacing the room like a headless chicken.
Susan slowly recovered, sipping water Kathy handed her, finally feeling a bit better.
Seeing Susan's color improve, Seb suddenly shouted, "Kathy, from now on, keep an eye on Mrs. Anderson. She doesn't leave the house!"
Kathy looked confused.
Susan stared at Seb in disbelief as he buttoned his shirt collar and headed for the door.
"You can't restrict my freedom!" Susan shouted.
Seb paused at the door, his profile cold. "I'm your husband. I have the right to stop you from fooling around."
With that, he walked out.
"Seb, you bastard!" Susan yelled as the door slammed shut.
The house fell silent.
Susan's eyes reddened, feeling extremely wronged.
'Seb can be with Cynthia every day, not coming back until midnight. He can leave for a week for Cynthia. He can do whatever he wants. Seb, you're so unfair!'
Susan couldn't hold back any longer and began to cry softly.
Seeing Susan cry, Kathy anxiously circled around her. "Mrs. Anderson, please don't cry. It's bad for the baby! What did you do to make Mr. Anderson so angry? A woman should be obedient. A man like Mr. Anderson is bound to be possessive. You should stop associating with those male friends."
Kathy's nagging only made Susan more irritable. She got up and ran upstairs, on the verge of an emotional breakdown.
Susan was afraid her emotions would affect the baby, so she rested in bed for a day.
But life had to go on. Dorothy had switched her major to accounting and aimed to become a CPA. Susan needed to get some basic accounting books for her.
Struggling to get up and dressed, Susan grabbed her bag and headed out.
In truth, she was also intentionally rebelling against Seb's authority. Didn't he forbid her from going out? She just wanted to defy him.
Seeing Susan in the foyer changing shoes, Kathy hurried over to stop her. "Mrs. Anderson, you can't go out. Mr. Anderson gave strict orders."
"He has no right to restrict my freedom," Susan said, ignoring Kathy and continuing to change her shoes.
In a panic, Kathy stood at the door, spreading her arms to block Susan's way. "Mrs. Anderson, I can't bear the consequences if Mr. Anderson finds out."
"If he finds out, let him come to me directly," Susan said, pushing Kathy aside and walking out the door without looking back.
Seeing she couldn't stop her, Kathy could only shout after her, "Mrs. Anderson, please come back soon. I'll cover for you, but you must return early!"
Susan went to the bookstore to buy books for Dorothy and delivered them home. After having lunch at home, she went to the Prosperity Group building to meet Isabella for afternoon tea.
Susan vaguely knew she was deliberately provoking Seb. Maybe if she made him angry enough, he would agree to a divorce.
Susan knew she would suffer for this, but she did it in anger, just waiting for Seb to come and deal with her.
By the time Susan returned to Seb's place, the city lights were already on.
As soon as she entered the foyer, she saw Kathy nervously approaching her.
Ignoring Kathy, Susan lowered her head to change her shoes. She knew Seb must be back because she saw his shoes.
"Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Anderson is in the living room. He knows you went out and is very upset. Please go say something nice to him," Kathy pleaded, holding Susan's arm.
Frowning at Kathy's good intentions, Susan then walked into the living room.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Seb standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, smoking. Without stopping, she headed straight upstairs.
"Stop!" Just as she reached the stairs, Seb's stern voice came from behind her.
Susan gripped the stair railing, her steps halting but not turning back.
Seb harshly extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray, frowning as he walked up behind her.
"Is this how you ignore my words? I told you not to go out, and you stayed out all day!" Seb's voice could have lifted the roof.
Susan slowly turned around, still holding her chin high, her face showing no fear. "You clearly don't love me. Now that Cynthia is back for you, why haven't you divorced me yet? Seb, I understand what you're really thinking."
She stared at him with a puzzled look. Seb's eyes were deep as the sea, impossible to read.
Susan's words made Seb pause, his mouth opening but no words coming out for a long time.
Seeing Seb's expression, Susan found it amusing. Seb thought she knew nothing.
The next moment, Seb's eyes showed a hint of doubt as he asked, "How do you know?"
