Chapter 165 Lose
"Yeah."
"After these two days of travel, we have other plans!"
"We should think about heading back soon." The tourists were all talking at once.
Seeing no one wanted to delay, Susan quickly said, "Hey everyone, I know I'm not a pro guide, but I work for the travel agency. I've done this Whispering Winds Canyon route a few times, and we have an experienced driver. Hotels, restaurants, and attractions are all set, so everything will go smoothly. I'll do my best to make sure we have a great trip over the next two days!"
Susan's sincere words won the tourists over. They agreed the guide's sudden illness was unavoidable, so most accepted Susan stepping in.
Susan smiled and said, "Thanks for your support. Let's get going!"
She smiled at the driver, who started the engine, and the bus slowly hit the road.
Seeing how easily Susan handled the situation, Sophia and Amelia still objected.
"No way! We need a professional guide."
"Yeah, we can just delay. We have time."
But no one else agreed. Susan found a seat at the front and ignored their complaints.
With no other options, Sophia and Amelia had to go along.
While the tourists slept, Susan couldn't rest. She studied the attraction materials for two hours. Twenty minutes before arriving, she stood up and explained the history, culture, and myths of the site. Her interesting explanations made the tourists laugh and forget the earlier issues.
They soon arrived at their destination. Susan got off first, helping the elderly and those with kids.
After the day's tour, it was 6 PM and dark. At the hotel, Susan made sure everyone's meals and rooms were sorted.
By 8 PM, she had settled all the guests, finishing her day's work as a guide.
Seeing Susan's hard work, none of the tourists complained. They got along well with her, leaving Sophia and Amelia no chance to cause trouble.
Though tired, Susan felt happy, while Sophia and Amelia were frustrated.
At 9 PM, Sophia and Amelia knocked loudly on Susan's door.
Susan opened it, knowing they were up to no good.
"What's up?" she asked, her smile gone.
"We want to change rooms!" Amelia demanded.
Susan frowned. "Why do you want to change rooms? Didn't we confirm there were no issues earlier?"
When they checked in, Susan had asked if everything was okay, and everyone had said their rooms were fine.
She knew Sophia and Amelia were just causing trouble, so she was ready for it.
"The sheets are all wet. How are we supposed to sleep?" Sophia snapped.
"Let me take a look," Susan said.
"Go ahead," Sophia shrugged.
Susan went to their room and saw the sheets were indeed wet. She frowned because she had checked this room earlier, and the sheets were dry.
Following behind, Amelia said, "See? They're wet. We demand a room change."
Holding back her frustration, Susan turned to Amelia. "The sheets were dry earlier. Did you wet them yourselves?"
"Which eye of yours saw us do that? You need proof to make such claims. Don't talk nonsense!" Sophia shot back.
"They were dry when I checked," Susan said, clenching her fists.
She felt like she and these two were destined to clash.
"Anyway, you must give us a clean room now, or I'll complain to the travel bureau!" Amelia threatened.
"Yeah, I told you an unprofessional guide wouldn't work. We'll report you for working without a license and get your travel agency shut down!" Sophia added.
Their loud voices drew several tourists from neighboring rooms, who peeked in to see what was happening.
Seeing more people, Sophia loudly said, "Look at our room! The sheets are all wet. How are we supposed to sleep? We complained, and she gave us attitude. What kind of guide is this? She promised this morning to make sure we had a good time, and now we can't even sleep properly. This travel agency is so unprofessional!"
"Exactly, let's all complain and get them shut down!" Amelia echoed.
Seeing the growing crowd and hearing the murmurs, Susan realized Sophia and Amelia were about to ruin her hard-earned reputation.
If many people complained to the travel bureau, it would severely impact the travel agency, possibly leading to a shutdown.
Although Susan had only worked at the travel agency for a little over a month, Adrian and Maiken had been very kind to her. She couldn't let Adrian suffer because of her, nor could she let her colleagues lose their jobs. So, Susan had to swallow her pride.
'Sophia, Amelia, I may lose this time, but I won't let you off next time!' she thought.
Taking a deep breath, Susan turned and walked out with her head held high.
"What are you doing?" Sophia's voice wavered slightly at Susan's demeanor.
Susan put on a bright smile and said, "I'm sorry, I might have overlooked something earlier. How about this: I'll sleep in this room, and you can take mine, okay?"
