Chapter 939 What Does it Matter To You If I Hold My Woman
Not long after, a guy walked up to Alfonso and whispered something in his ear. Alfonso apologized to Isabella and took off in a hurry.
Before he left, Alfonso leaned in close to Isabella, promising he'd be back soon and asking her to wait for him. He even said he'd take her home. This made Leon, who was watching from the sidelines, fume with anger, his face turning dark.
To Leon, it was obvious Alfonso and Isabella were flirting. Isabella's big smile made it seem like she didn't care about him at all.
As Alfonso walked away, Isabella felt a wave of relief.
Finally, Alfonso was gone. She was super grateful to whoever needed Alfonso; otherwise, she wouldn't have known how to get out of that awkward situation.
Just as she turned her attention back to Leon, poised to resume their interrupted conversation, she was hit with Leon's harsh words.
"He's barely gone, and you already look like you miss him!" Leon's jealousy came out as sarcasm.
Isabella's smile vanished. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"If you miss him so much, why didn't you just leave with him?" Leon shot back.
Isabella was really ticked off now.
She grabbed her utensils and snapped, "Why do you even care if I miss him or not? Mind your own business!"
"You're right, it's none of my business. I'm just here for the wedding banquet." Leon said, picking up his utensils and starting to eat.
Seeing this, Isabella was furious and started eating too, not even glancing at Leon.
The two of them were eating like they were in some kind of race, leaving the other guests totally confused.
Leon, being a big shot at Prosperity Group, had people constantly coming over to toast him. Probably in a bad mood, he didn't turn down any of the drinks and ended up having quite a bit.
He didn't say a word to Isabella or even look her way.
Feeling bored, Isabella picked up her wine glass and started drinking while she ate.
Probably also in a bad mood, she downed several glasses and began to feel dizzy.
Isabella was really frustrated. She had dressed up nicely today, hoping to patch things up with Leon, but instead, they just added more fuel to the fire.
Leon, who could hold his liquor pretty well, was only slightly tipsy despite all the drinks.
He kept an eye on Isabella the whole time. Seeing her drink so much red wine made him frown. If it weren't for the sake of appearances, he would've scolded her right then and there.
As they both sulked, the banquet was wrapping up.
The guests, full and happy, started to leave. Even though Isabella was dizzy, she still knew her way around. She began to wheel herself out.
Noticing Isabella's stubbornness, Leon frowned.
Even though he was mad, he couldn't just let her go home alone.
So, the next moment, Leon stepped forward to help push Isabella's wheelchair.
But before he could, someone else beat him to it. Alfonso showed up with a smile. "Isabella, I rushed back just in time to take you home."
Isabella looked up to see Alfonso's smiling face.
"Alfonso?" Isabella, her face flushed from the alcohol, called out softly when she saw him.
Alfonso glanced at Leon and then whispered to Isabella, "You've had quite a bit to drink. Let me take you home."
"Okay." Isabella nodded and glanced in Leon's direction.
Seeing Leon looking at her, Isabella felt a bit defiant, thinking, 'Don't think that just because you won't take me home, no one else will.'
The next moment, Alfonso was pushing Isabella towards the exit of the banquet hall.
Watching Alfonso push Isabella away, Leon clenched his fist.
As Alfonso pushed Isabella out of the banquet hall, the cool breeze sobered her up a bit.
Thinking of Leon's resentful look just now, Isabella felt it was pointless and regretted her actions.
She had warned herself countless times before coming here that she must not argue with Leon this time. But she couldn't control her temper, and they ended up arguing again, dragging Alfonso into it as well.
But now it was too late for regrets.
While waiting for the elevator, Alfonso suddenly asked Isabella, "Is that Leon the person you like?"
Hearing this, Isabella hesitated for a moment before answering without hesitation, "Yes."
Upon hearing this, Alfonso, although expecting it, still felt a pang of sadness.
"You have good taste," After a long pause, Alfonso finally said.
Isabella pulled a wry smile and said nothing.
At this moment, the elevator arrived, and Alfonso pushed Isabella into it.
They remained silent until they reached the parking lot.
Understanding Alfonso's feelings, Isabella smiled and said, "Do you think I'm foolish?"
"Why?" Alfonso asked while pushing Isabella.
"He always keeps me at arm's length, but I can't control my feelings for him," Isabella said, troubled.
"Maybe that's what love is," Alfonso said as he pushed Isabella to his car and turned to open the door.
At this moment, a tall figure approached and closed the car door.
Alfonso looked up to see Leon's face.
"Mr. Johnson, what do you want?" Alfonso's expression changed.
Seeing that it was Leon, Isabella was stunned.
Leon didn't answer Alfonso but walked straight to Isabella, looked at her for a moment, and then bent down to lift her from the wheelchair.
Already dizzy, Isabella felt even more disoriented with the sudden movement and closed her eyes.
Seeing Leon pick up Isabella, Alfonso stepped forward to block Leon's path.
"Mr. Johnson, don't go too far. Put Isabella down!" Alfonso's eyes were already filled with anger.
Leon sneered. "What does it matter to you if I hold my woman?"
